I am not sure where we are disconnecting but you don't have to put your trust in meth....you can run it as an extra safeguard but if your tuner tunes it knowing that you want to be conservative and that you are going to run meth then you are fine. Personally on pump gas I would tune it for no Meth and then run meth....you'll be rich but that's ok.

No waste gate for me. I have a maggie but if I was running race gas I would have been ok. It was actually a blessing have that stocker go. Now I know it will handle all I can throw at it. Since that happened 2 years ago I ditched the meth and run a full tank of race gas (20 gallons) each time I track it. Basically between Sept - June I only put 104 in the car. I just buy 55 gallon drums but even that is way cheaper then building another engine. And it's not even the cost, the downtime is way way worse. Obviously Ted knows what he is doing so you will NOT be relying on meth and using it as a saftey measure but if I were you I'd be dumping race gas in that thing if you plan on holding it to the floor!!!!!! |

I'm just confused how can I run a meth safe tune but still add boost because of the increased octane from meth?

The simplest way I can explain to you is.... Imagine if you are tuned for 105 octane because you're using meth and the meth stops working.. You are suddenly at 91 octane under boost....Detonation would massacre your internals. So what most tuners do is tune you for say...93 and then you run at 105 with your meth so you have a cushion even if your meth fails.
Jump in anyone and correct me if I am completely wrong but this is the basic understanding I have of meth as a safety feature. |

Tune for 93 and then add meth and don't add boost. I can't explain it any simpler.

Exactly. If your not going to use it for what it's made for don't waste your money. You don't have to have it. What's your parents going to say about you having meth in the house anyways!
