Exactly my point. Since becoming a first time vert owner last year, I've also become acutely aware of convertible tops from all makes and manufacturers. Whenever I spot a convertible in a parking lot, I go out of my way to exam the top for rub marks and wrinkles. I notice convertible tops driving down the road, I'll go as far as to say I can smell a convertible coming a mile away (not really but hopefully you get the point). And never, ever have I seen a convertible top from another manufacturer flop around the way an uncovered Camaro top does. The majority of tops I see from other manufacturers have some form of covering over them when down. Thus, I'll stick by my earlier statement that the biggest flaw GM made was not to include the tonneau cover (we can argue it's engineering merits in another thread) as standard equipment on ALL convertible trims. I think it's given everyone a false sense that the cover is not necessary. And from what I've observed, uncovered tops don't seem to be standard practice with the rest of the industry.

I compare the closest competitor to the camaro, is the mustang convertible.They have as well, an option for a manual tonneau cover(similar to the camaros), but if you ever see a mustang cloth top convertible uncovered and driving around, it does not flap in the wind like the camaros roof does.

If the cover was the reason, then all models would be equipped with the tonneau cover.

the Mustang has a compartment that the top folds down into. you can not see the top from inside the trunk with it down. i'd be willing to bet that's why the Mustang top doesn't flap in the wind.

I have never treated any top on any convertible I have owned. Then again, I didn't buy one to drive with the top up. Only thing I ever do is spray it off with soft water. My garage is plumbed to the soft water line. Either hot or cold. Never use soap or any product on them. On my old 69 which still had the original top in 91 and looked good for 22 years old, an old mechanic at a Chevy dealer said never to put any chemicals on any top. My plastic rear window on that car you could still see pretty good through. Soap will kill a canvas roof. He said any non natural product is not good for it. Lived by those words for 24 years and hasn't failed me yet. The only thing that did was the mechanics and top on my first 2012 Vert.

Don't waste your time. No "higher ups" will be in attendance. It's pretty easy to shake the tree using social media if you do your research.

I have been trying to buy a convertible SS and since I have seen the ZL1, I would like a convertible ZL1 but if people are still having problems, why would I spend an extra $25k if I get the same issues. It doesn't matter if it is one person havin issues, a hundred or a thousand. There should be no leaks and I have not seen one thing on this site from GM CONFIRMING NO ISSUES FOR THE 2013 MODELS. Until I here back from the others, I will not spend $64k or $48K for the convertible I want. It's not rocket science! FIX IT!

That is all we want...those of us with top problems...we just want it fixed.

The reason I believe alot of the posts turn into rants is because of no feedback or help from GM. As far as I know to this day, GM Canada , which is a separate company from GM USA, is still in denial,or at least won't publicly admit it, that there are top problems on the verts already on the road.I think we all wish GM would just step up to the plate a bit more.

I believe also,from others experience, that the newer ones coming off the line now are better and are having fewer issues.

From my own personal experience GM Canada did absolutely nothing for me, but my dealer that is looking after me have been fantastic.If it wasn't for my dealer trying to make things right, it would be an absolute disaster.The key , is to find a dealer that is experienced in convertible tops...the run of the mill GM dealer won't cut it.

I have had my 5th bow replaced, and my dealer did a superb job.The seal at the trunk was even better than what came from the factory originally(the repair was done 7 weeks ago).Right now, my dealer is repairing a leak on the rear passenger floor.I had an update today and they believe they have found the source of the leak and are couriering overnight the parts they need for the repair.Hopefully this repair comes out as good as the last one.

Good for you, Silly. You deserve a problem free vehicle (as do the rest of us). Unfortunately an unacceptable number of us are experiencing significant issues with the convertible tops that seem to be similar in their nature, rub marks to holes, water management system failure, breaking bows, etc. Waiting and exploring other options is a wise decision in my opinion.

How does one install the tonneau cover ? The directions are very dicey to say the least....

I agree. this thing is like a jumping bean. The cover will always be on for top #3. We'll see if that makes any difference.
