X1000000000000. I have a hard time with all this road course talk when talking about Muscle/Pony cars. I bet if I did a Poll and everyone voted honestly the percentage of those who ever took their car to the autox would be minimal at best. In the same poll if I asked how many took their car to the drag strip or air strip I bet it would be 5x as much. Then if I asked how many had a straight line stop light to stop light street race or highway roll race that number would be even more than the drag strip. I am actually a little disapointed in GM with the acceleration of this car. GM has a flagship car in the Corvette to take care of road course duties and be a autox king. There will also be a 1LE Camaro for those who want a great handeling car. The ZL1 should have been better in the 1/4 IMO. If you ask me the only 2 areas that the ZL1 has over the GT500 in a more real world scenario is the ride quality and auto option. ZL1 owners deserved better in the straight line performance. As it looks right now a mildly cammed SS can beat a ZL1. Thats just sad.

I'm very impressed/confused how this thread can go through stages of fanboyism for page after page, then turn enthusiast oriented like it has been here.
Both sides sittin down, discussing HiV Positives and Negatives of both cars. I've always been BIG on the "indent need frills,'or fancy suspensions, or seats, etc.... But after driving my base '13 Shelby I'm afraid I'll never buy that stripper 5.0 noth I've always wanted......not to mention the '70 boss/mach1 on my agenda. These cars do such an amazing job of spoiling their owners/drivers that I for one can't fault the recent editors/reviewers for favoring either car over the other.... We all know ford and GM could offer 10 second cars that run record road course times for LESS than 55,995 (with or without GG) but they just wouldn't sell. We, as performance enthusiast are such a small minority, they out perspective brands can only satisfy us so far. Honestly, if we were really that interested in stock performance times,'we would ALL check the seat delete, recaros, radio delete, ac delete, insulation delete, etc... Pffew, glad I got that rant off my chest.

ZL1 is a complete waste of money for how fast it is.... You can make a stock Camaro SS just as fast by just putting on any sort of F/I system on it, and as for corners(granted the ZL1 is a 1LE with a blower).... I don't know about you guys but I don't live on a mountain road or have close access to a racetrack(same applies to the majority of owners here), the city I live in is based on a grid, the handling limits are ridiculously high on both anyhow. The GT500 is still half a second faster around Willow Springs despite the fact it has a LRA and skinnier tires. But at least the ZL1 has the same or more heritage then the GT500, oh wait.....
