Your Gen V V8 engine.
It seems like the injectors might be under that engine cover up top and I can't see DI ports. I'm going to go with that lower accessory drive being a dry sump system or something. What's with the valve covers? Something is going on with those heads. Some kind of variable valve control? 3 valves? Something is definitely different with these heads vs Gen IV.

If you hover your mouse over the image in the article you will see they labeled it LS3.

No problem, that article was a bit lacking on facts to say the least!

Yes it was. I should have looked at the source they quoted first.... It has a completely different picture than what they showed.

The pic is the same one Fen posted above. Should have know Fen would beat me to it.

TT V6 is awesome. I'm so excited to see more!

I don't doubt it is awesome but by my math a TT V8 will always be 33.3% MORE awesome.

But we aren't talking about that. And a TT V16 would be twice as good as a TT V8. Guees we should all wait for GM to really step up the game.

I think some are speculating it is a diesel. I think the better bet is we are seeing some of the innovation from diesel engines for emissions standards finding their way into gasoline engines. Just a guess though.

Diesels are direct injection. Hopefully they are using the diesel high pressure fuel pump so we don't have a high amount of pump failures like BMW on some sort of "lighter duty" ones put in gasoline engines.

Here are my assumptions:

Direct injection

Double overhead cam

Variable valve timing

Dry sump oiling

CR in the 11-12:1 range

GenV is the next designator with the LS1/LS6 GenIII, LS3/L99 Gen IV, this is the GenV.

More diesels are coming, but the US is diesel adverse in mainstream passenher cars while europe is miles ahead....but they are coming.

And no, I dont work at GM.....but have friends.

Gasoline engine that can run on 87 to 93 depending on the platform it is used in.
