Really? Other than rated horsepower, how did you come to that opinion?

The base C6 has very similar numbers to the GS. I would not say the Grand Sport (especially an M6) OR a Base Coupe would be an easy kill at all for a ZL1.
I think it would come down to drivers. The C7 is rumored to have a better HP/Weight number than the C6 with all around better performance data. It will better the C6 (performance wise) in every respect but again, we are only speculating. But look at Chevrolet's past and what they've done with each version since the C4. They have always upped performance and I doubt it will be different with the C7, even in the base model. |

http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/ca...e_track_page_7 Base vette is 33 lengths behind a Grand Sport! and 59 behind a Z06. I think the ZL1 will spank a base C6 vette on a road course. Grand Sport would prob. have an advantage. But 15k - 20k would easily address any weaknesses in either car. Got me on that one. I can get 30 mpg with my 660 HP Z06 cruising at 80, lol.

(The Grand Sports powertrain is exactly the same as the base cars, but for a mere $6400 extra you get a lot of wider stuffwider Goodyear F1 Supercar tires, a wider, more flared and chiseled body and a wider steel frame. Suspensionsprings, shocks and anti-roll barsare stiffer, and the body has brake cooling vents behind the front tires. Theres also a dry-sump oiling system on the handbuilt LS3 of the coupe) And the base C7 will be good, but have to wait and see how good.

As for the money both will be very respectable cars on both a road course and the quarter mile at that point with some mods however I would probably choose the better performer overall. Even a C7 Vert will have its Wow Factor taken away almost within a year by an impending Z06 or ZR1 release so I may as well invest that extra cash in the car I can see the most return on. I like what KD Innovations is doing lately with the ZL1 and I'm looking forward on seeing their quarter mile times with their recent car. I have never driven neither a Corvette or a ZL1 so I cant speak directly about the handling but if the Corvette handles around the turns considering its weight difference that will be a deciding factor as well. |

I agree, the Base vs GS vs ZL1 on a road course would be a lost proposition for the Base model. But ZL1 vs a GS is not a done-deal for the Camaro in either venue. |

The extra supercharger weight on the motor hurts handling more than the power helps. At least on that track. Wonder what my car would do there. Z06 with more power than a ZR1. (Just hope the modded LS7 lasts )

On Invo's? I'd say somewhere between the Grand Sport and the base car.
