Matt, very nice! Added your pic to the OP team list.

Quick update today....... It was a little of the same as yesterday. One step forward, two steps back, LOL

In order to mount the AC condenser, I will need to do some trimming of the rad support.

This pic shows an out line of what will need to come off the passenger side. By trimming the panel, I'm cutting off the section that has the factory welds (The red dots are the spot weld). splitting them apart. To remedy a solution, I am welding were the two pieces over lap on the side. The first thing I did was to remove the paint.

Next, I had to hammer and dolly the two panels flush. This pictures shows the gap that exited between the two panels.

Next, I clamped them down to get a tight fit before welding......... Well Murphy had to through a monkey wrench into my plans! When I went to get the welder, the tank fell over and the gauges were smashed. Ran to HD, but they didn't have any, so I guess I will finish it tomorrow.

The whole day wasn't a total lost. I did buy a couple of more rack to put engine stuff on them and organized the garage better. Seem like I had parts all over the place.

Nate...add me to the list. I got my intake manifold back from Mike "The Powder Coater" last week. He also did my coil brackets. If you want to fly out to Houston to help me with wiring, my girlfriend is a chef and can keep you well fed!

I'm really looking for your approach of hiding the AC lines...

and I'm still waiting for the "making your own sanding rolls" and "proper sanding"

top job!

Nate,

Think I might have the solution for your "get rid of the hood strut" problem, saw it at C5 Fest 3. Its an option that leaves you with less clutter and a more "mechanical" or "old school" look.

Will post it when i dig the pictures out of the camara.

PS it also works for the rear trunk lid...

TXM62SS, thanks for posting the pics. looking really good and love how you ran your fuel and vacuum lines! Mike did a great job on the intake manifold, almost looks wet

LC, I totally forgot about posting the vids. I will try to look them up. I had to move the folder which contains all the build pictures off my computer and on to a portable hard drive this weekend because my computer ran out of space, LOL.

So it looks like you just unbolted the fuel rails, lifted the whole thing up and rotated it around 180 degrees? No fitment or fuel problems? It certainly looks better and makes more sense that way. Last night when I was changing out the stock valve cover for the Holleys I noticed the long convoluted fuel line that snaked around from the passenger side, across and over to the fuel rail on the driver's side. The way it looks in your picture is exactly the way I was thinking it should have been.

Doc

I had to loosen two of the intake manifold bolts up on the driver side rear in order to allow the fuel rail to be completely removed. This is not a big deal. The fuel line was pretty easy to build and it only took a handful of fittings to complete. If you need some help just let me know. The fuel rails literally pop up, rotate them and then you pop them back down. It really cleans up the bay. It was where a lot of other guys and gals started with their clean-up projects.

Best

Sadly my photo skills are much worse than my fab/ideas muscles...

Here is the only picture i can find at the moment...

This was on the LG race car. They used hood pins in the existing hinges. Now obviously we can clean this up.. better looking pins, better lanyard, a spot to "mount" the pin while its not in use, ect..

Now i wouldnt do this on a normal car as the hood would probably shear the pin (pins if you do both sides) but ours is light aluminum (or carbon fiber in my case).

Edit:

also a wider angle picture...

Thanks yeah, any info you have on connectors, fittings, etc. would be great. I'm definitely going to do this.

Stache, forget your picture taking skills because that right there is the money shot!!!! Thanks so much for bring this idea to the table. This gives me a lot of ideas on how to implement it. And Like you said, it totally does away with the hood strut problem

Doc, good to see you around, you went dark on us for a while By the way, TechAFX has a fuel line replacement for flipping the fuel rails 180 degrees. They also have a great instructional write up on how to do it.

Here is a list of the parts I used to build the fuel feed hose.

2ea - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-644120
2ea - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-610020
1ft - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-632050

The 3 foot section of hose is the smallest amount they sell. I bought about 20 feet because I replaced several other hoses. Hope this helps you out. If for some reason my links don't work, just go to Summit and type in the part number that is at the end of the link.

How to make stock cowl hood functional???

Hey Nathan I wanted to start off by telling you how much I appreciate your DIY tutorials, I'm getting ideas as I go. Now I would appreciate your help! I want to make the stock cowl on our hood functional.

One of my fellow club members told me he met someone who had cut the plastic on the windshield wiper mechanism under the cowl to extract heat. Do you have any ideas of how this could be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
