Sorry, wasn't aware of that.

Is it possible the trunk was damaged and needed to repaired/repainted by the dealer?

i dunno, i think the factory clear coats are very sloppy. my drivers side front window pillar has 3-4 runs in the clear coat on it that i need to get wet sanded/polished out,no repair work ever done, came that way off the lot.

I didn't care because its not a dealbreaker but it's kinda sad they would ship the cars lookin like that.:(

Unsightly yes, but not rust from what I see.....I do this for a living restoring muscle cars and have seen the buildup un an edge do exactly this.
This is what it looks like to me as well, I have seen it before.

I have to take the car in this Monday or the next, but I don't have any details to what they are going to do or how long it is going to take (because I didn't get to talk to the manager).
It is outstanding to hear your dealership is addressing the issue you are having. Please let us know how service goes. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to get in touch with me via PM.

Shitty Repair

Here is the dealers first attempt to fix the problem. Im not to happy. Its hard to see, but all they did was sand down the rough spots and brush on touch up paint. Oh, and it took a body shop 5 days to do it.

I can't believe you even took that home.

I could do a better job with my yellow paint marker.

I really didn't have much choice. I was about to go out of the country for business for 30 days. I told the guy working the counter at the dealer, but the manager is not there on Saturdays.

I wonder how some dealers stay in business when I hear stories like this. A warranty covered problem and they won't give you a loaner? That is BS !!!!!

And I know it's not just Chevy dealers, my buddy had the same problem with a Ford F250, it had to be kept over night and all they did was offer him a ride home.

Not totally true. Corrosion is covered for 3/36. Rust-through is 6/100K.

The goodwill part is GM's Courtesy Transportation deal. It's not a guarantee under the new car warranty. But it's something that GM does on the side. They can reimburse or cover a rental, or provide public transportation, etc. But they don't HAVE to.

Although it looks sealed and don't need to worry about moisture getting under the paint, it still looks like shit. I would throw a shit fit in the service isle....if they didn't take care of it the first time like the way I asked them too.

They gave me a rental while it was being done, I'm just unhappy with the repair.
