Here's an idea... Why don't all you sea level guys come up here to Colorado. See how them 9000 DAs treat ya! In all seriousness, there's a track here with a 2 mile road course and drag strip. Nice weather, no rain outs. Little bit to the west, but real nice!

I'm game, Turbos love altitude... Weather sounds great as well, and we know the scenery is amazing...

Yep, Hopefully I will have joined the turbo crowd by then too. It's Pueblo Motorsports Park. The link is here: http://www.pueblomotorsportspark.us/index.aspx?NID=1 Would make for some great road trip photos too!

Labor Day 13' is 27 May. Federal Holiday with most people getting 3-4 day weekends. One Fest on the E coast and the other more localized to where those unwilling or unable to get to the E coast could decide on and hold another meet.(again, on the same weekend or as close to as possible)

I'm sure "overall" attendance would improve with an OPTION to choose from. Less people/cars at each event would provide more track time per car as well and I don't think anyone would argue with THAT!

A better chance for some to have a realistic chance to place for a trophy rather than being dominated by the same cars every year wouldn't hurt.

Not that either venue would suffer from too little of attendees to justify holding the event.....I think it's something to consider.

Let me know if I'm way off base as I've never been to a Camaro Fest but have attended several annual car meets and I've always thought this might be a way to go. Too many cars and not enough track time/space and somewhat frustrating when all is said and done.
Great times and relationships are made and fun is had......but I ALWAYS go home wishing there was more track time but it's just not able to happen.

Vendors MIGHT be an issue with two locations but it WOULD provide more time to for attendees to view products and vendors answer questions more 1 on 1.

I know there are variables with this idea but there is with anything. I'm NOT petitioning this idea, just threw it out there ya know.
I'm sorry but it won't work. There are 3 huge problems that I see.

First, we'd have a hard time getting vendors out west since the bulk of them are based in the eastern half of the US. From what I've heard, most of them don't really mind going out west, but when they've got 2 events to choose from they will pick the closer one. And if its roughly the same to each, they'll go to the bigger event ... which would be out east. Without the vendors availible to sponsor the event, we simply couldn't put it on.

But beyond that ... planning 2 fests is double the work of planning 1. Its already enough of a workload for the staff to have our jobs, live our life, and moderating the site. Those of us with extra ambition and/or time take the lead in planning Camaro5Fest. And quite frankly, there aren't enough of us to be able to do that twice.

This is kinda related to the 2nd, we wouldn't have the manpower to run 2 events. We had 8 or 9 guys there this year, with a couple others helping us out. Now, we had enough people there to cover everything that needed to be done but I wouldn't say we had excess. Certainly not twice the people needed.

Finally ... one of the major things about Camaro5 Fest is meeting people from all over. Where ever we have the Fest, there will always be people from every corner of the US and Canada there. I know plenty of people from Canada and the Great Lakes that will go anywhere, just to be there. Same goes for folks in California or Florida or anywhere else. In fact, I'd say that meeting your friends on the other side of the continent, that you'd never otherwise see, is perhaps the best thing about Camaro5Fest. Splitting it up kinda kills that spirit. I'd never see the folks from California & they'd never those of us that are out east.

It was more of a casual observance not really directed at any one person

Sorry if you thought it was directed at you

Joliet, IL at Route 66 Raceway Park!!! It has a drag strip. HUGE open parking lots for Auto X or Anything else that someone wants to do there. TONS of vendor area and grass parking lots. And Chicagoland Speedway is also in the park. Top Speed Laps anyone??

AND its on the mother road.. Rt. 66. We all owe it our respects..

Houston FTW

OK... I'll let you in on a secret...

This is Royal Purple Raceway and the guys that run this track really want us there...
...and as Robert so nicely stated the Camaro Club here is very active and pledges full support.

Super Chevy show will be there end of this month and you'll see a ton of 5th gens there.
