to what everyone else has said. A 2LS has economy gearing and let's be honest about the V6. It's no slouch, but no speed demon either. There are plenty of other V6 cars out there that can spank us and we can do the same to a few too. It doesn't really get going until high revs. If you want a few mods to help, but nothing crazy then get a cold air intake, ported throttle body, and change out the exhaust. The rest of the mods I suggest are for serious gearheads only.

Don't quite understand why people say that 2LS are not fast. If you rev up and slam down the clutch and if you shift at 4k and up you should be flying off the line. I have problems because I can rarely make it to 4th to the next light and usually there is a stupid copper somewhere around. I live in dupage county in IL and the cops here are aggressive as hell.

Personally I don't think that is the case coz 18 miles to the gallon is not as good as 35 with corolla but this is camaro. I know it is not the SS V8 which will blow it out if the water ofcourse. The point I was making is that I do not even shift in the 2k range. I feel as though you should be shifting at least past the 3k. If you are trying to drive to save gas than you should not expect to be fast off the line.

My auto V6 with the 3.27 gearing takes off just fine from a start....I don't understand what some of you guys are talking about. 1st gear is so damn low on the V6 auto taking off is no problem. Sometimes I wish 1st was a tad bit higher. I usually find myself even with or pulling far ahead from people at the stop light with normal throttle.
The 2.92 gears in the 2LS will be harder to get moving, but again 1st is so damn low he should be able to light em up whether crawling along at 1,500 rpm or reving it at 4,000. I know it is easy to do in my car...can't imagine the 2.92s being that much harder in 1st gear. OP...are you at least reving it up to 2,500 or 3 grand before it shifts or are you just not giving her any gas?

This is strange, first a thread about someone thinking their SS feels slow, and now a thread about a V6 feeling slow.... Guess the SS guy needs a ZL1 and the V6 guy needs an SS...

Don't be a pudding and put your foot on the gas. These little motors are made to rev. My truck with a V8 moves the same shifting at 1750 as my Camaro does at 2500. Drive it like it was designed and you'll be happy. I'm at 8,000 miles in 7 months and my Slomaro gets out of the intersection first.
