Mail Slot mesh

So I checked out some material and I'm thinking of cutting out some metal mesh stuff to fit it into the mail slot and remove the existing plastic insert. It would match my rk sports hood well. I might even cut out an opening in the mail slot just so it looks as if its functional lol. Does anyone know of a company that might sell a piece like this? If not ill try it out.

I'd also like to maybe remove the plexi glass cover on my C.A.I. Cai and put a piece of black mesh stuff there as well. My hood is supposed to direct air to the CAI area and it might help get more fresh air to it, although I already have an ADM air scoop on the lower grill. What do you guys think?

Here's a few pictures

To address the question, I don't think anyone carries that mesh specifically, though I could be wrong. I'd say pick up some at your local hardware store and start cutting and do it yourself. Would look awesome in my opinion with that hood. The slots behind the insert that is already there wouldn't look very well to me, so I'd have to cover them with something or cut it away to make it open behind like you stated. Good luck and post pics when you finish with whatever you choose to do!

Can't wait to see the results. Kind of reminds me of the mesh inserts they sold for the grand prix.

They don't seem to make the kind of insert I'm looking for. I tried to cut one out but it's not going to work because of the way it's angled. Oh well, just leaving it alone.

ACS has one that makes the mail slot functional, and you might be able to get just the mesh piece from them.

When I did my mailslot scoop and lower scoops I researched various types of mesh and found a good selection of sizes, patterns and materials from Grainger industrial supply. You can see what I used in my build thread, post 77 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170726

Good luck Luis. Post pics of the finished product. I am looking for a material to put as my lower grill and no one makes a grill that fits the bumper.

I couldn't figure out how to post a link but if you go to their website, www.grainger.com do a search for aluminum perforated sheet or steel perforated sheet.

All it is is an expanded metal. I order it all the time at work through out storekeepers. I don't know where they get it unfortunately.
