Here's a couple of questions that NightmareSS and I asked the Mole, a little while back. I think it was on page 63 of The moles thread, if you want a reference. Anyways, thought it was interesting, especially for us folks trying to get a car built before the break!

in the case they do ship out while you guys are on break, i really hope my car doesnt get stuck on the line, and is completed b4 the 6th...tpw of june 29th

thx man

When we go on holidays (shut down) everybody goes on holidays.

Most times we just turn off the lights. Cover all the cars with dust covers, and go home. Then when shutdown is over we just start right up again.

I read the thread. thanks.

That's not the one that I read that I was referring to.

One, or more of the more knowledgable guys here stated that shipping will continue. At least we, that hold TPWs of 6/29 all hope so.

I'm gonna keep my glass half full because, IMHO, nobody makes money on these cars if they are sitting on a lot in Canada. Not GM, not Chevy, not your dealer, not your salesperson and certainly not the car carriers.

I worked in an product moving industry for 36 years and product was moving 365 days a year. Large freight companies work 7-24-365 and do the same. There are tours with multiple staff, just like Hospitals, the Police, THE RAIL ROADS, etc.

Now let me say this so that I don't get flamed next week. There WILL still be QC control cars left behide because the plant is responsible for releasing a quality vehicle and there will be some delay in shipping the next bach out because nothing will be coming off the line.

What we need to remember is that car sales are down all over. There are carriers for GM alone who are not moving the same volume of Vettes, Malibu's Colbalts, etc. Don't you arrange your chess pieces to the most advantageous side of the board? What makes you think that GM hasn't thought several moves ahead.

Don't worry, folks', IMHO, and with a consideral amount of experiece in a similar field, our cars will be moving between th 6th to the 12th. 3000 cars are not going to sit idle for week while more are not being made. It would be a a double bougy for GM.

Yeah shipping will continue as long as the cars leave the factory before the 6th.

Any car that gets stuck at the factory wont be shipped. What the more knowledgeable guuys that you are refering too mean is that if the car is in transit then it will keep moving, shipping companies are not related to GM. But if the factories shuts down before shipping a car then it will stay there until they get back.

Sounds like the cliff notes version of this whole Camaro purchase for me! :-)

this is exactly what i thought...and what are the chances of your car rolling off the line and getting on a truck or rail cart that same day? lets say your car goes on the line 6/29 it supposedly takes 4 days to finish...so your car rolls off the line 7/2...you only have till the 4th to make it out of the factory lot...and i doubt they are just waiting for your car to finish to send out...i would guess there are prolly other cars on the lot that have been waiting b4 yours to leave...unless maybe the shipping department works on sunday too you would 3 days...idk but im hoping for the best...hoping maybe they will push the cars out right on to a truck/rail cart or maybe they are a lil ahead of schedule and the cars might be complete the begining of the week

I'll just be happy if mine is built and I have a VIN before everyone goes fishing. Most cars that are started next week won't be completed before the shutdown.
