Yeah but the Chevy SS is just a rebadged Holden Commodore/Pontiac G8, like wise it's probably purely built with Holden Commodore parts including the LS3 from the G8 what ever is going in there. The SS is different than the Camaro or Vette, an LS3 would work just fine, it's not like they have to run against the Mustang or Viper in sales. I know the SS has to go up against the Charger but again the LS3 works more than just fine for that.

Well, I thought the LS platform is going away all together, so I wouldnt expect to see the LS7, LS3, or L99 going into any new cars for too much longer.

Since the gen3 the camaro has always gotten the new corvette goodies a year after. I don't see this happening for two short years as an ls3 replacement. The ls7 Works because it will be a very limited amount and cost a premium.

I don't think it will. Historically the vette is what GM has tested new motors in for years. I believe that we might see the LS7. The LT1 may be offered in the next Camaro.

It makes sense to me and it would be a win/win for all. But the rumors seem to be strong that it's not going to happen.

Maybe they should sacrifice the LS7 to appease the masses!

I don't think Chevy is going to change the engine on the SS in 2014....

Adding a new engine (LS7 or LT1) is going to increase the base cost of an SS and most consumers may be scared away from an SS purchase and steer towards one of chevy's rivals. Chevy does not want to cut into their 1LE or ZL1 sales...

Sure, we as "gear heads" would love to see that but the bottom line for any company is profit. Obviously chevy is trying to get people interested in the new vette and wants to separate it from the "base" LS3 vette so a new engine and improved interior quality (apparently that is a complaint a lot of people had on the older vette models).

Maybe I am wrong but I suspect the 2014 Camaro will have a slight change in appearance in exterior and interior, possibly including electronic steering and HUD as standard options on both SS trims.

I personally don't want to see a new engine until the next gen, simply because its not in my financial means to buy a 2014, and I would hate to see my current car take a big hit in value right now, but I do hope to see the lt1 in the next gen.

I want to see an ls7. This would make it hard not want to return the mustang to stock and trade the Mustang.

yea i think the 2014 camaro is going to get a big interior refresh like the c7 and mayb a little extra oomph. but that one isnt as likely. Either way im getting a 2013 1LE or a 2014 1LE

I will be very surprised to see the LT1 in the 2014 Camaro.

The Corvette got the original LT1 and LS1 a year before they showed up in the Camaro.
The new 2014 Corvette will have the LT1 engine, but production won't actually start until later this summer for release in the fall.

I just don't see the LT1 engine being available in the Camaro until at least the 2015 model year, if it shows up in the Gen 5 at all.

That's the main reason I don't see it happening. It doesn't look like GM is done with the LS3. I would have thought they would want to recoup all the LT1 development money by putting it in as many cars as possible but I was surprised when it didn't show up in the SS. I would be really surprised to see it in a 5th gen Camaro, but even more surprised if it didn't show for the sixth gen. They can keep the excitement up without the LT1, maybe with a ZL1 brake option or optional mag ride on the SS.

It's not bad on the strip it's just not as fast as the Shelby.

My 2014 crystal ball says:
current v6 continues.
Ls3 in both auto and manual.
1LE gets LS7 and becomes z28.
ZL1 prods on with new top speed due to minor front aero enhancements.
