Congrats to Ford, I'll go probably for a GT500 ...
Sorry, I thought you said "Congrats to Ford, I'll go probably give them $12,000 more for what I could achieve in a 2SS/RS for about $7,000 more. Enjoy my $5k gift, Ford!"

Well I don't agree. If you are going to compete with Ford and Dodge you have to offer it all.

To me though the biggest disappointment is hearing that Bob Putz is back. To me this does not show a very strong commitment on GM's part to change. He is part of the reason they went broke.

Was it not Lutz who came up with such poor marketing decissions as the SSR, the HHR, downgrading options and accessories on the Silverados, losing market share with the Colorado and Canyon, I could go on.

The HHR has been one of GM's greatest successes of recent times. They have sold a lot of them, and even reviewers who are mostly critical of GM tend to like them.

The only reason GM's products...any of them...are competitive is because of Bob Lutz. Malibu, CTS + friends, G8, Kappa Twins, Camaro, Silverado, etc, etc, etc...nearly every vehicle that's been introduced within the past ~7 years was under his direction. Not all of them were hits...but most of them were, and GM hasn't had such a desireable portfolio in decades! I'm not sure how you figure the exact opposite.

To be fair, he was at the helm the last 8 years while the company ran aground...

Was it not Lutz who came up with the new Malibu, the GMT-900 trucks, the Lambda crossovers, the Theta crossovers, the CTS, the CAMARO...

Without Lutz you would all still be moaning and groaning over your lack of a Camaro.

If you look at GM in two parts, Product, and Buisness/financial....Lutz was in charge of product. And it was business/financial that led them into trouble. The only comprehensive thing they did right before the Fritz-restructuring was product, and it was all at the bidding of Bob Lutz.

They say he "freed" the imagination within General Motors. Bright thinkers smothered by bean-counters and a "shoot a lot and hope a few hits" culture. Now, those same designers are able to draft up vehicles like the Camaro, LaCrosse, and CTS, backed whole-heartedly by a "aim then shoot" mentality (proven true by every recent vehicle launch). What he accomplished is just short of a miracle.

If you havent caught the news, the GT isnt selling at all. SAD but gm is making the right choice. If they sold a 45-50k car there would be very few takers.

Yeah but to be even more fair, if not for the recession GM would be in the best position right now that we've been in for the last few decades. I'm not a Lutz lover but a recession like this one is really difficult to plan for and along with Rick Wagoner and Ed Welburn, Lutz created a car line that is truly competitive for the first time in probably 30 years; we were so close to really being back in business. Hopefully with all the re-structuring we can REALLY be successful once things pick up. It's such a shame that a truly brilliant car lineup like the recent Saturn, as well as HUMMER, and Pontiac had to go (not to mention the jobs of a lot of good people).

I knew Bob could NOT stay retried. As for the Z28 time will tell. If So, I see Stage Packages in the Camaro SS future like the Cobalt SS.

Oh Sure, I comes from the factory with 426hp. Add Stage I package and you get 480hp, Add Stage II Package and you get 520hp. Can you say LoopHole.

If there wasn't any noticeable difference in power, then would it be so bad to have a 4 cyl in a Camaro? And what if you could slap a turbo on the current V6 and get it up to 400+ hp....would that be so bad? I agree the V8 has a nice nostalgic feel to it and it really gives you feeling of top dog performance, but if I could get the same power/torque from a v6 with the small chance of better mpg, then I probably wouldn't mind having the v6.
Blasphemer!!!!!! 4 cyl. camro = dead camaros. ill say it again..if they make a 4cyl. camaro ill sell my v6 and just f*ing walk. I mean a 6 is already a bit low but come on a 4cyl muscle car..i mean a shell of a muscle car with a go cart engine pushing it??? bull sheet.
