Once again I'll say this: there IS a downside to sharing information....and this is a perfect example of it.

We could clam up and perhapsyou'd never know about it...but to the Camaro Team, that would not be the right thing to do.

If you think that BMW and Mercedes and other foreign manufacturers don't have similar issues, you're wrong.

WHAT I RECOMMEND: (....from a PERSONAL viewpoint......)

DO NOT do 6,000 RPMS and then DUMP the clutch.

That's a foolish thing to do....regardless of what you are driving.

I'm not saying you have to 'baby' the car -- but don't go out and 'flog hell outta it!"

Meanwhile - we will have more info. as details develop.
nobody talk about the cv joint who broked at the first attempt at 4100 with lcontrol

So is there going to be a recall or what?

is it you break and will fix it with the 6 speed tranny or will they narrow vin# down and recall

Wait and see. My guess is bad batch of parts and they should be able to narrow it down pretty well. I'm just going to enjoy my car in the mean time.

might as well go out and do a few hard launches and see if it will snap, then get your new trans before it does break and it is late at night or far from home.

Sorry- there's an IOM on the lift at the local Chevy dealer...broken tailshaft. Maybe it's not on IBM cars.

In your new car warranty -- you'll see that when your new Camaro has to remain at the dealership overnight, we'll provide courtesy transportation or car rental. (there is a ceiling on the limit of the car rental per day --)

Correct -- keep in mind that a constraint -- unless it's a zero constraint simply means that there is a higher demand than supply for a particular option or model.

Go order your new Camaro!

Seems we've gotten off track here. Has there been and official word ( or is it coming ) from GM on the output shaft breakage experienced by some Tremec 6spd SS Camaro's ??
From the pictures submitted, one scenario for such a clean break of the transmission output shaft indicates an over hardening of the output shaft, I'm sure there can be other reasons for such a clean break. I think it is normal for us with VIN #'s near or around documented vehicles with failures to be concerned. I don't expect GM to have the end all answer yet, however I do expect it sometime in the future. What GM needs to do is make a statement about the issue. Vendor management ( Tremec ) and customer management. Ed M.
