just thought I would chime in...and feel free to correct me if im wrong....isnt the RS package standard on the 2SS? which would make all 2SS have red SS badging? I think the only difference would be the leather/coth interior differences

RS is not standard on the 2SS. While some of the equipment RS adds to the LT is already standard on the SS (spoiler, 20" wheels) there is still some equipment that is not (HID headlights, body color ditch moldings, darker tail lights and midnight silver finish on the wheels). As such the cost of adding the RS package to an SS is lower than an LT to compensate for the equipment that is already there.

That being said, the 2SS has several differences compared to the 1SS (which are the same differences when comparing the 1LT to the 2LT). The 2SS has leather vs. the cloth in the 1SS as you mentioned but the 2SS also gets everything from the Convenience and Connectivity package (upgraded stereo, bluetooth, remote start with auto trans, USB port and audio controls on the wheel) standard, which is not even available on the 1SS (just the 1LT). There is also the rear view mirror as mentioned before. Nothing else I can think of off the top of my head but there may be more.

The 1SS has red SS badging if it has the RS package. The 2SS has red SS badging if it has the RS package; otherwise it has a white SS emblem if it does not have the RS package on the 2SS and it will be a white SS on the 1SS if it doesn't have the RS package. Makes sense??

GM, please make a badge for this.
Sure, they can stick a massive "CONVENIENCE AND CONNECTIVITY" badge on the back of the car like they used to do with fuel injection, ABS, and Twin Cam on Saturns.

Is XM radio available on the 1SS? Is there an XM radio antenna mounted externally on the 2SS??? Just guessing here...

I swear I've seen a pic of a Camaro with HID lamps but with SS written in the grille...I was under the impression that that was potentially a 2SS, I guess not.

All SS have the badge in the front grill. It's a difference of its color that will tell that it has the RS package or not (that's assuming you haven't already figured that out by seeing or not seeing the halo rings).

And back to the RS package on the SS; it's a $1,200 upgrade vs $1,450 on the LT. Personally if I were to get a LT the RS package is a must have. You get plenty to justify the extra cost. On the SS I don't think it's worth it. I wouldn't mind having the HID but they are not a must and I'm actually getting to where I don't like them as well (just a personal choice - don't flame me). The drip railing in my opinion is also not worth it and the tail lights are near impossible to distinguish unless you have a the two different ones side by side (even then it's not that noticable). Basically you need to determine if you want the HID lights for the extra $1,200. For me....I'm saving the $1,200 and not buying the RS on my SS.

Does the 1SS have the auto-dimming side view mirrors?

2ss sits lower!

The 2ss rides lower because of the 4k extra the guy driving it is carrying on his loan!
