Nice! Just make sure you turn the key to make sure it's working! I hear that's an important step!

Install notes

Hi. First time posting in this thread but I have been following along. I thought I would add a couple of notes on the install. This is on a 2012 M6 w/BA. I also have my camera split between the factory mirror and the mylink screen. I received the unit yesterday and got it installed last night. Everything works great and it is a real nice change.

1. I did not have to dremel the radio hole or modify the gauge cluster. I could see the difference between what was shown on the DVD vs. what my car had.
2. Take a picture or write down your XM radio I.D. which is on the label on top of the radio. When you call XM to update your info they will want to know this and charge you $15 or ask if it was a dealer warranty replacement.
3. Cable length is more than adequate to reach everywhere.
4. Getting the shifter trim/gauge cluster back in was a pain because of clearance with the cig/powerport and shift boot hold down bracket. I wound up removing the boot bracket and installing it after I got the gauge cluster forward but before snapping it down.
5. I had an insulated wire on the new harness that the insulation was partially skinned off where the grey outer sheath was cut. I wrapped it but maybe something to look out for.

The resolution for the backup camera on the mylink screen does not seem as sharp as the rearview mirror. I am not sure what I did wrong or maybe that is the way it is. Anyone else notice a difference? Also the distance marks and projected path yellow arcs are not displayed.

Is there a time limit set for the radio being on with the key removed? This would be if you just pushed the power button and did not have the key in the ignition. The old one would time out at 10 minutes. I think I went past that mark playing with the touchscreen.

The instruction sheet and DVD were a great help. Guys thanks for sharing the info, it made the install really straight forward.

Glad you got yours in and working.

I was at Deke736's install on saturday.
Was my cars faceplate that would work in his car.

**Note, before you try to remove the glove box remove the following latch (2011). I broke mine :(

Mylink Install

When removing the Onstar box behind the glove box: when looking towards the front, look behind and to the right of the box, you'll see a grey wire holder that is a push-in type holder for the wire bundle. If you push that through, towards the front of the car, the box, and the wires, will come out much much further!

Connector:

Push it back through this hole:
