See picture with red arrow below:
I left mine on - Just had to trim a little bit off it, and then the ends went on the bottom of the splitter.

I just followed SLP's instructions.

looks can be deceiving but i know this doesn't actually lower the car in front, but it does look like it extends out forward thus reducing your approach to steeper driveways... do any of you run into this?

After having to pay $400 to learn that lesson, I totally agree with you. Next splitter is going to be bolted on permanently .

EBay. Just search SLP style splitter. With some minimal sanding they turn out pretty nice.

I have the SPL splitter from RPI. The bolts are a pain in the ass if you are installing it alone. After removing it for a repaint we reinstalled the splitter* using Balkamp #10-32 part number 665-2834 screw sets for under $20.00.No more cut up forearms from the install, no two way tape and* the hold is real strong. Drill the hole push the threaded rubber through screw it tight repeat 7 more times.

I'm at stock ride height at the moment and I haven't scraped it once. I am careful though. I back in, angled approach going forward, and slow down for speed bumps. Like a snails pace slow.

Wow... that looks like crap. The top looks just like my SLP. This is the first time I saw the underside. Some things are worth the extra money. Here is the underside of my SLP for comparison.
