Well now it certainly looks as though GM could surpass or make the ZL1 a serious contender with a small hp bump it doesn't need much as is.

It's disappointing that with so much more HP the Hellcat times are closer than expected. Ya the trap speed says a lot but we're at the point now where AWD needs to be an option ... if not on names like Challenger and Camaro then on other models, even if they're brand new names.

The Europeans and Japanese are now all doing it (AMG, GT-R, etc.) and it's a no brainer in my mind to give customers the OPTION of choosing the same engine/drivetrain with AWD if we wanted.

Heck, put this Chrysler unit in from the new Cherokee (fortified of course):

"The technology effectively cuts the driveline in half, disconnecting the power transfer unit (PTU) and rear drive module (RDM) when in front-wheel drive mode. This reduces inertia and drag created by the movement of unnecessary components associated with powering the rear wheels.
EcoTrac can either be activated directly by the driver or automatically by the electronic control unit, which kicks-in under conditions such as rain, change in slope or change in temperature. These trigger points can also be customized by the driver.
When the control unit detects AWD is needed, the system engages utilizing a wet clutch in the RDM to bring the rear driveline up to the same speed as the PTU. This is designed to provide a seamless engagement of AWD without any interruption to the driver or vehicle performance. The system reverts back front-wheel drive mode once it senses conditions are suitable.
To date AMM has been granted five US patents for EcoTrac and has another nine pending."

You might wanna read it again, the warranty doesnt cover racing.

FYI, GM doesnt warranty the 1LE, ZL1 nor the Z28 for racing either, per the warranty manual.

Taken from the GM Camaro warranty manual:

.."The New Vehicle Limited Warranty
does not cover damage caused as
the result of any of the following:
. Collision, fire, theft, freezing,
vandalism, riot, explosion,
or objects striking the vehicle
. Misuse of the vehicle such as
driving over curbs, overloading,
racing, or other competition.
Proper vehicle use is discussed
in the owner manual.
. Alteration, modification,
or tampering to the vehicle,
including, but not limited to the
body, chassis, powertrain,
driveline, software, or other
components after final assembly
by GM." .

Even though racing mainly occurs at a track, every track event is not an actual race.

You can not race competitively but you can track the car. See time mark 1:50

I bet heat soak is going to be a problem also.
Heat soak will not be a problem they have two intercoolers built into the super charger so the air tem never gos over 140 degrees or so says dodge.

I have posted this a few times on camaro5 forums so don't shoot me. Dodge will warrant the hell cat 6.2 on the drag strip or road course. This is what Ralph Giles the then head of SRT said in an interview. They do not warrant any other engine dodge makes for racing only the 6.2. I know where I race the 5 ZL-1s that come out are all stock. They say they will not MOD until the warranty is up.

There are a lot of ZL-1 owners who don't know that GM doesn't care. All of them that I know which is 5 are very careful not to do anything that would void their warranty and they all think racing would void their warranty they have told me so.

You are correct hard to void the warranty when you advertise it as a race car.

If you race you would know that a full second faster is not close. The ZL-1 runs 12.0 to 12.3 stock the hell kitty runs 11.2 stock on the stock tires and 10.80 on nitto 555Rs. Not even close.

Just to clear it up the SRT dose not have a warranty that covers racing the HELL KITTY dose there is a big difference in a hell kitty and an srt. The hell kitty is the only car dodge makes that has a warranty if raced or tracked.

If you're going to compare times, compare marketing times to marketing times or review times to review times.
