Have a good technician check it out. Several ways for a tech to narrow it down in person. Stethescope, cylinder cancelling, chassis ears...

A rod or lifter would be quite dramatic and hammering. A phone would definately pick up a bad rod or lifter. Cancelling cylinders with a scan tool can narrow down which cyl is affected.

Over the internet is really just guessing.

You can also pull the oil filter out and cut out the media and unpleat it. If something really bad mechanically is happening, there will be tons of metallic debris in the filter media.

Well you can suck one ^ it's under warranty.
Went and had it checked out today, they said they'll need to check it out for a day or two. Just got off the interstate after an hour and a half drive, when I pulled into my driveway it was louder and sounded more like a clunk clunk clunk, sounded more metally... of course at the dealer you could barely fn hear it... any clue?

I know this problem is worrisome, but be analytical. If the noise does not vary by engine rpm, then it's not a rod or lifter, etc.

being as you have a V6, which is an overhead valve setup, it can't be a lifter or push rod since your car doesn't have any. I highly doubt it's a piston rod as that would be so loud you wouldn't help but to be able to hear it. not to mention it probably would have done enough damage now that you would have a very noticeable loss of power.

You need to decide if you want anyone opinions or help, or if you want to be a prick about it.

Oh, and welcome to the forums. Where is that fridge Sir Nuke usually posts...

We understand you are probably stressed about your issue. But don't get tight on people trying to help.

sorry, wasn't meaning to be rude. However, it clearly says in a previous message that my phone probably wouldn't pick it up.
