Boom! Called it! Been a naysayer from the beginning. Gave you a fair warning about the problems you'd encounter but your either too stubborn or too stupid to listen. Hard to feel bad for you when you were amply warned about this EXACT problem, MULTIPLE times before you started. But Noooooo "how hard can it be?" Lol. Live and learn kid.

Haha if only I would've bought the right donor car...

but you didn't. Now you're here. Do your homework next time instead of bull rushing into a huge project and ignoring those trying to help. Good luck with that.

Your post #123 about a month after he made the thread. Linking to another thread with someone else attempt. You didn't say anything constructive then, certainly haven't now. Keep up the "good" work

Anybody bother reading that thread? If you did you would know that the wiring harness is the biggest downfall to this project. The ECU, BCM, all that can't be different or it won't work, and also the total cost of the swap (for that guy) was somewhere near 40k on top of the cost of his car. The combined effort between the two posts was all the further I'm willing to try and help this guy avoid disaster. Even if I didn't put any icing on top and make it sugar coated for the guy. But in the end you do what you want, I don't care. not my car, time, or money involved.

good effort, back when i had my 2011 i built an ls2 to try and swap in i took a bunch of stuff from a wrecked GTO but then i was trying to figure out the wiring harness think maybe run a sperate ecu that only controlls the motor while still having a the check engine light from the v6 ecu cause you know the whole no engine thing lol and then i thought about maybe using EFI Live since it does self tuning and stuff .. but i just end up putting everything into a 79 Trans am

if the wiring cant be worked around (cheaply) maybe its def time for a 1970 Camaro to throw that LS3 into.

its just a pain in the ass having to find which wire and what can be unplugged and removed to then roll out the new wireing harness.. its easier for me cause i have access to ALLData, which basiclly gives you all wire diagrams know to man lol..

Oh my god. Im almost in tears. I just found this thread today and read every single post just now. I feel for you Austin, but seriously dont give up. If you think rewiring electrics is tough, it cant be tougher than redoing the entire vacuum system from an early 70s Continental, including the climate control

And man, as far as all the naysayers, geez, why so much hate for basically a cool project goal? I may be doing some kind of swap at some point, but will probably not go for an LS engine of any kind and go back to carbureted no ECM ECU etc. Yes it will be tough getting gauges to work and lights, but meh, a good driver and good maintenance is all you need, right?

I know a think of two about "lost causes" Austin. My 2004 Crown Vic Sport was totaled after some old hag cut me off, but I'm fixing that car up to be as good as brand new, costs be damned. If I can go through that (still going, injuries are slowing me down) and restore a 10 year old car that nobody here cares about you can swap that LS3 into your LS.

If you were closer and I had more time and didnt have a jacked up spine id offer to help with the wiring. It can be done, just hang in there man! I cant wait to hear what you end up doing, keep the faith alive!

It's not time to give up.

It's time to get a set of books, namely the service guides. subscribe to all data, it's 50 bucks for 2 cars for a year....

get a soldering iron, solder, wire, and shrink wraps and go to town.

except when all data or Mitchell is wrong... then you ca, spend 3 hours doing something only to have to undo everything. I always check a year up and a year down to make sure there's no funky business now and I still find mistakes... probably not alldatas fault but the oe manufacturer

I gotta ask... if you're spending over 10k why didn't you just twin turbo that sucker? would've been faster than an as and left you with change to get 1le suspension or better aftermarket suspension.

I don't think it was originally about the power, cost and ease as much as it was about working with his grandfather and doing something no one else had done at the time.
