The paint damage should be repaired by GM! Make them pay for all this.

So, I have no leaks on my 2014 but picked up the 42072 to install as a preventative measure. While I generally subscribe to the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy, I would hate to have fluid eating my paint.
Any reason why not to make the switchout? |

After a week of installing the new gasket I found brake fluid on top of the reservoir again

I went through this. In the end, the reservoir and the cap needed to be replaced to solve the problem. There are two TSBs out for this. One for the cap and an updated TSB for the reservoir.

I personally think its all coming from the cap and leaks to the seam of the tank. After cleaning the tank really good and driving it, I found a small drop of fluid on top of the tank near the cap. I made an O-ring from a plastic bottle and put it behind the rubber gasket. Cap is much tighter than when I tried the Dorman gasket. One day of driving and so far its dry, will check it again in a few days.

When I had the problem, the TSB included 2010-2012s. As you can see, this now includes the 2013s. Keep in mind that a TSB is not a recall so while GM knows about the problem, if you're out of your warranty period, you're paying for this out of pocket. |

Noticed the sloppy fit and paid $6 for 42072. Nice and snug now.
