Does anyone know if the 5gen Camaro has felt-less inner weather strips on the doors?
Without felt you get window tint scratches and streaks. Here is a picture of what it looks like. Moleskin felt from Tint Protector Has anyone popped the door panel to see? |

I would like to revisit this question. Has anybody had any issues with new tint and the indexing windows? I have always been told not to roll the windows down for at least 24-72 hours in order for the tint to dry/cure. And since pulling fuses is such a hot topic lately, is that something anyone has done after the tint has been installed? Thoughts, advice?? .

Hey Big,
I just got my windows tinted Saturday. Luckily the guys had done a 2010 Camaro already. If you pick a good shop they know about the "auto-indexing" as many luxury cars have had that feature for years. The guys I used just took some time to dry the bottom as best they could due to this feature. They said they used to be able to just remove the fuse that controlled the windows but now it controls so many other features as well so they don't mess with it- they just do their best to dry the film before they hand the car back over. I drove 120 miles and to another state to find a Formula One dealer so I could get that ceramic film (Pinnacle Series) put on. It's great stuff, I noticed a huge difference in the heat in my car- It's a lot cooler and that's been nice since I can't crack my wndows. Be prepared to wait a while also. It took them about 4 hours to tint my car because they took out the back seat and deck. They do it right or they don't do it at all is what they told me ![]() I went with 35% since it's Kansas law and it's plenty dark since there is a slight factory tint to begin with. Not to mention the black interior makes it look darker too ![]() For those asking about what the tint looks like from the factory go to that new deliveries thread and look at those pictures. Most people are posting before they get their tinting done. |

I had mine tinted with 20% 3M, no issues at all. If you use a good installer, they won't have a problem with the auto indexing.

I'm leaning towards getting the ceramic tint when my car comes in, but I'm curious about the added cost. Please tell me it's less than $500?

I had mine tinted two weeks ago with Formula One Pinnicle. 35% on the sides, 15% on the back. Cost $260 and took about two hours. They didn't have to remove my seats or rear deck. It looks great. Very dark looking in, but hardly noticeable looking out. It also does not affect the auto dimming feature of the mirrors. The indexing windows were also not a problem. They told me they used a hair dryer on the edges to speed up the process, and yes, the Camaro has factory window felts. Just make sure your install shop is aware of the indexing windows before they start.

I had mine done at 20% so far haven't been pulled over, I keep my fingers crossed! The car just looks so good and "bad" with it done. No trouble with the window/tint, the place that did it shaves the top to protect the tint with this type of window. It looks normal there is nothing different or noticable.

SHer525,
Let us know if you start to see tint scratches that look like vertical lines. They look like this. Tint Scratches. If you do then the new Camaro does need the Tint Protector Felt. |

Thanks for the info. How long does it take before I would start seeing the scratch marks if it's going to happen? I have had my car about 2 months and don't see any yet. I guess it depends on how much I put the windows down ??
