I don't think the ZL1 will be that collectable. It's really based on how rare or how many were made and for that matter they made alot more ZL1'S than 1LE's. I'm not saying that the 1LE will be collectable either. The only 5th gen that has a chance will be the Z28 but I'll be long gone before that day ever comes. Meanwhile, I'm driving the shit out of my 1LE.

Actually it's a 176,370.5882352941% increase over the original $17,000 price. You were close though.

First off im not a tool .And if you are a member of The Big Red One you have my respect and thanks for your service, And if you have not driven a ZL1 or a Z28 ( I have driven Both ) you don't know squat about what you like best . I have owned more Camaro's than you ,starting with my 1969 blue Z28 and I now own a 2014 1LE . So get out there and drive the Z28 and a ZL1 and than you might , maybe know what your talking about.

Personally, I wouldn't throw a supercharger on a 1LE. Throwing a couple hundred pounds on the front of an already heavy car isn't a great idea. Not only that, but you're upsetting the nature of the car that those GM engineers nailed so beautifully. You're better off getting a ZL1.

If you want more HP on your 1LE, get a cam/heads/longtubes. If you want a supercharger, get a ZL1.

In the end what would be perfect would be a 3000 pound 500rwhp na Camaro that handle's as well as a C7 for $40000.00. that has a warrantee and needs no mods. And has no up charge for Crystal Red Tintcoat .

So as much as we would like our 1LE's we all really wanted a Z28 or a ZL1 but could not afford or would not spend the money to get one. We got a great car for the money with the 1LE ,but if you think you could mod a 1LE to be as good and preform like either the ZL1 or Z28 with a factory warrantee without spending more than it would cost to just buy a ZL1 or Z28 your just kidding yourself.20 years from now a stock un molested ZL1 or Z28 will be collectable and worth a ton of money .And the ILE will be just be another used pony car. I bought mine for the cheap thrills it gives ,but I wanted a Z28 but just could not see spending that much on a toy.
ZL1s won't be as big as a collectable as you think. They make 2x as many ZL1s per year than 1LEs. these are mass produced vehicles that anyone can buy,(with enough money.) sure they are likely to be desirable but as far as value goes it all depends. Good point about the modding of a 1LE voiding the warranty. Most people just think a supercharger will be sufficient in modding the 1le but you really do need supporting mods as well.

I did not know there were more ZL1's made than 1LE's. I do like my 1LE ,but after driving a ZL1 I did notice it drove much smoother on public roads and the instant power of the SC was addictive . I didn't notice the brakes being any better ,but I didn't push them to the limit as it wasn't my car. What I did find interesting was the steering felt different ,maybe because the ZL1 is a bit more heavy in the front . But any time you mash the throttle in any gear and at any rpm you get a nice surge of power. I'll bet a set of long tubes an upgraded pulley on the SC and a tune would be a real rush.

I don't have to have driven either a Z/28 or ZL1 to know I like our 1LE best. I would like to drive a Z/28, but still know it was not the correct car for us. By the way, I bought the 1LE without having driven one, and could not be happier with the choice.

The 1LE is by far the best looking Camaro ever made. I would rather slap a Super charger on mine than swap for the ZL1. They should have moved to the new front end on the ZL and also powder coated the rotors red.
