The Trans is out of the Z/28 I thought, or vice versa since the 1le came first lol

The gear ratios in 1, 2, 3 (and 4! lol) are the same in 1LE and Z/28. 5th and 6th gears are different.

It is a bargain for what all you get for the measly upgrade cost of $3500. Ask yourself a few quick questions. Do I want to drag race? If yes, then get the auto transmission L99 2SS and modify it with a tune and upgrade components. If no, read on. Do I want a car that handles significantly better than a "regular" SS? If yes, keep reading. Do I prefer a manual transmission? If yes, then get the 1LE over a regular SS LS3, you won't be disappointed. I test drove all SS variants, and the difference between 1LE and non-1LE was near night and day.

The 1le should truly be it's own model. It really is a different car than the non-1le SS.

Faack! I don't even want to drive it, I just want to sit it in a garage and look at it lol. (I wish I had my own garage too)

In your post you say New Camaro. If that is the case you are far better off with a 6th gen SS than a 5th gen 1LE . The 6th gen is a much improved car , and the 8 speed auto trans is outstanding .

+1 on the 2016 being a better on paper performance car (will see how people and pro's feel when they get real seat time). I would at least wait to see the new one in person and maybe test drive it since you are so close to the release.

I have been driving a friends 2016 C7 with the 8 speed trans and the LT engine , and if the Camaro use's the same type of LT engine and 8 speed trans it sure as hell is better than my 14 1LE. It is quite a eye opener driving the 2016 C7 , makes me want to sell the 1Le and buy the Vette.

Here is a quote from over at the Camaro6 site on Dyno results on LT1 vs LS7 vs LS3:

Note: While the Camaro SS uses the LT1 engine, it’s not exactly the same engine found in the Stingray, however, with around 20% of components changed, including a new exhaust manifold.

Whatever the 20% of the components would be the question. We'll find out soon enough I hope you're correct though!

Peace,
Brent

The difference being 600 lbs in weight, and not much at all in horsepower or torque. If you managed to strip 600 lbs out of your Camaro, it would feel very much like a 2016 Vette.

FYI ,it has a smoother ride too. And the 8 speed auto trans is just magnificent. Shifts faster than I can shift my 6 speed in my 1LE . And I can row the gears with the best of them. Don't get me wrong , I like my 1LE and will keep it 1 more year . I think the 6th gen Camaro SS with the 8 speed and LT1 will be head and shoulders better than the 5th gen .

Mag ride on the vett?

I've been telling folks that the mag ride option is one if the best upgrades to get on the 6th Gen ...we'll see who listens.

I've been a big 1LE fan...almost pulled the trigger on buying one before I got the ZL1. But at this point I'd wait and save up for a 2SS 6th Gen with mag ride and NPP options.

No mag ride ,only option was the 8 speed . I can only imagine what the Vette would feel like with decent tires on it . I has run flats . As we all know run flats don't stick as well or ride as smooth .

Is 2013 1le vs 2014 1le different, besides the body refresh?

From here, thanks Rocky1974.

Package also includes forged wheels 20 x 10 up front, 20 x 11 in back 285/35 20's, if I recall correctly, on all four corners, different gearing within the transmission, 3.91 rear end gears, a strut tower brace, short throw shifter, some interior differences (flat bottom steering wheel and alcantara covered steering wheel and shifter). I probably left one or two other things out too.

It is ridiculously good value for the money. The wheels alone are worth a significant chunk of the $3500.00 and the suspension components detailed above sell for $1500.00, just for the parts, to folks who'd like to upgrade their SS (like me) or V6

Just the suspension componentry was well worth the money, and if I'd found this forum before purchasing the car, rather than after, I would have gone for the whole package. As it is, by the time I get new wheels and tires, I'll have spent well over the package price to replicate it.

I notice the parts list from the 2014 1le is different from the 2013 1le? Is this correct and has it made a noticed difference in road track performance?

The 1LE has the standard SS diff housing with a 3.91 gear. The ZL1 diff/axles are completely different to handle the increased torque.

On 2013 the 1LE did get the ZL1 fuel pump. In 2014+ all V8 Camaro use the same "ZL1" pump.

It takes the SS and makes it sharper and harder in all the right ways.
You can now purchase them from a dealer and install them, but they were not a factory option.

The ZL1 is an all around bruiser that can be driven and is faster stock on a road course and drag strip. For very little money the ZL1 can make even more power.
The 1LE is a more focused track day car that can be up to 300+ lbs lighter than the Zl1. I would never call it an N/A ZL1 as there are two many major difference: ZL1 has Magna ride, a much stronger (heavier) rear differential/axles, 6-piston front brakes/ 2-piece rotors, and the aforementioned supercharger. It really is a different beast.
