They should've stuck to the LS1 design. Where, when it cracked, you could pop it out and replace it.
Truth!! My 2000 Trans Am cracked back in 2010, cost me 180$ to fix it, part came directly from the stealership. Popped the old out, new one in, maybe took all of 2mins.

Why do manufactures always make things more difficult as time progresses?

If you decide to invest in a windshield sun shield, CoverKing makes an excellent product. Used one on my 2000 Trans Am for years here in Florida.

I am dealing with this issue now and it is ridiculous. Chevrolet opened a ticket on it. I suggest everyone call and open a ticket so we can get a recall going.

You guys are not getting it. The cracks are caused by pressure. You can't lean your palm or elbow on the dash while cleaning the inside of the windshield. In 6 years I've never touched my early '10 SS dash pad and it's still perfect. I bet as long as I don't touch it, It will be fine.
Also, If mine ever does crack no way in hell will some yahoo at the dealer tear my dash apart.

I just noticed that I have the crack where the airbag is located like some of the other posts. Would like to get mine replaced but I am past the 3yr/36000 mile warranty. Mine is a 2010 sold in March 2010. How do you open a ticket?

I never touch my dash and still got the crack on the inside edge of the airbag.

Had mine replaced in 2012.

There WAS a manufacturing change in 2012 for this issue. the early 2010's had VERY thin top cover around the passenger airbag and the change to a thicker wasn't announce/made with a new part number, it was an on the fly type deal.

If you have a 2010/2011 with an original dash it will happen, its not an if, just a when.

My replacement dash is still going strong with no cracking issue and mines parked outside in phx 365.

On a side note, racing (autocross/road racing/drag) will make this happen faster due to the torsional forces on the interior parts of the car. I track my car 4-5 times a year and that's why mine only lasted 1 year 9 months originally.

Edit - Also check out the cracked dash thread in the warranty/service forum. This is nothing new.

I have seen cracked dashes in many cars and trucks, including or '01 WS6. Yours may or may not crack, but it is not the result of someone cleaning their windshield.

Just noticed a crack in mine, on the left side of the airbag seam. It's about 4' long and hardly noticeable unless you're really looking for it. Temps up here range from +35c to -50c so that doesn't help anything. Fortunately there is a good body shop not too far from me who tell me it's an easy fix. Not a real priority at the moment, but I'll probably get it done before the snow flies.
