Look under the hood of an HHR.
What looks like the negative jump post under a black cap is actually the connection to the computer and fuse box. Tons of people who thought they were correctly jumpstarting ended up blowing fuses and wiping the computer.
You have to know the red cap is positive and the negative goes to the top of the strut tower.

My MR2 had the engine in the middle/rear and the battery was up front under the spare tire.

So the OP either

1. Started a legitimate post about his perceived inconvenience of jump starting his car due to battery location, unaware of the posts under the hood, then tried to play it off as a joke when he realized how foolish he looked....had to add the details of the invisible car in front of him and the Mazda that can't park on hills to further explain his failure to read the owners manual.

2. Started a post that made him look like a fool as a joke.....why bother with the picture and the post at all....it's not really that funny.

I recently had a battery and alternator go out, essentially simultaneously.

In order to drive the thing to the parts store, I had to rig a jump start box to the terminal under the hood... of course, the hood would not close with that big ol' box sitting there, and the hood would not stay HALFway closed (the pressurized strut wants to open it all the way), so I drove to the parts store with my hood open.

You can actually see remarkably well through the gap under the open hood.... but it does draw attention.

That said... if I had not been so lazy, I would have emptied all of the crap out of my trunk, and hooked the jumper box directly to the battery. Would not have had to drive with the hood open, then. So, the trunk battery IS a good idea!

Yeah I'd be more concerned about a car that I cant park in my drive way than I would be about a battery in the trunk of a performance car.

On a side note I went to the drag strip awhile back and the guys running the tech lane asked where my battery was and I jokingly told him the car didn't have one. He looked at me with a confused face said "oh that's strange" and started to sign off on my tech card. I laughed and told him I was joking that it was in the trunk. I think I offended him because I then had to pop the trunk and show him the battery. He then told me I couldn't run because I did not have a power switch on the rear of the car. I had to explain to him that the rule he was referring to applied to cars that had the battery relocated to the trunk and not mine since it was in the stock location. He didn't believe me (but earlier he believed that the car didn't have a battery) and had to get a second opinion from the other guy doing the tech inspections. That guy confirmed what I said and I was good to go.

The battery pull might have reset the driver adaptives. Go drive it like you stole it for a few days and the throttle response should come back. If not, get a Vitesse Motorsports Throttle controller and and hold on for dear life when you select SP9. See, I didn't say "flippin"

Wanted to point out I run a power extension cord from my house to my camaro for better part of six years, tender jr has worked flawlessly through -10 degree days out in the elements many times over. no one has ever been hurt by running an extension cord along the ground all these years. usually it is buried in snow much of the time could be why.

The first year I got my 1st 5th gen Camaro it ran the battery down twice, started using the Tender Jr, haven't had an issue since. cold temps will run down the battery in as little as a couple days, found this out the hard way. not a problem now

Some European cars, BMW is one, have the battery under the rear seat.... Weight distribution for on, besides keeps the battery away from engine heat.

I have used that to jump cars a couple of times. Connected the ground to the stud that the air box was connected to. I also carry a jumper box in case I need it.
