Anyone install this system near the NJ/PA/NY area? Never did this and don't know of any shops I'd trust to do this so looking to see if any members are willing to help out.

Like Rydahog...my wife says it sounds great and much better than the stock mic. I have a convertible and the original mic location was on the a-pillar and it sucked...could never get voice recognition to work and the wind/exhaust noise was horrible when I was talking to people.

Now to be fair I have not tested it in the rain or with the wipers going, but the blower has been on with no issues.

Still haven't gotten pictures of the Mic and Antenna install sorry guys, I'll try to get to it today.

I heard back from PAC today in regards to my programming issue with the SWC's. They basically said that I did not know what I am doing. I have spent over 10 hrs. trying every way I can think of programming this thing. I can get it to program until it gets to the phone menu and then it just will not except commands. Its like they just do not exist in the PAC unit. Even if I go back to stock configuration it will not work like it used to. I think that the so called update they provided failed to provide the proper commands for the phone menu and the Pioneer head unit. We will see as I have mailed them back. I don't expect much though. I guess that I'm disappointed in its performance. If it does not get ironed out I will install the stock unit back in the car even though I like how this looks and I love the head unit. But it comes down to why do we want something that will not perform properly for all the head units that it says it works for.
It has worked for others and I would love to hear from anyone who has been successful with the Pioneer head units.

How is it that you can't get it to work but 2 others a few pages back said they were able to program the SWC to do what they wanted? Perhaps it is you. Maybe PM one of those 2 guys and see if they can help you.

I had to read back to find it;

"...need to activate Google Voice"

He's attempting to modify the steering wheel controls to control a personal phone application, I highly doubt this is even possible without rewriting code and flashing the PAC unit in a custom installation and thus voiding any possible warranty service or support. This goes well beyond anything PAC would support and 100% unrelated to the company, I'm not surprised they told him to go fly a kite.

The solution is to purchase a head unit that can run and control applications, unless you're a hacker/coder by trade there is no solution available.

Now to the problems. I have the Pioneer head unit and I can program all the controls just fine except when I get to the answer and end call functions. They just don't work. I am using Android and need to activate Google Voice. If you look on page 6 of the PAC instructions i get to the phone menu, which programs in OK, but then nothing after that. Am I not doing something right, or am I missing something? I spent about four hours this afternoon repeating the programming sequence with no success. I have the unit in aftermarket mode. One of the programs for Pioneer is "VR". What does that mean?
So lets see, if you program the sw control, this pac will NOT allow you to make out going call with pushing the sw button. It will ONLY allow you to make out going call if you use the google voice program which in this case is the symbol > on your sw which is a long push of that button.. ... Now for the other options,,once someone CALLS YOU,, you can pick up (answer with short push) and HANG UP (disconnect, LONG push). so lets start there...dont try them all at once,,test after each function to see if you get what your looking for..

Thanks for your constructive input.
I have tried that with no results. The previous poster say's it is not possible, but I have been able to get it to make a call with the programming (although not every time I enter the program Sequence) but it will not answer calls and will not end calls. If I put it into factory mode it will make calls, activate OnStar only. No answer or end calls. I think that the program is missing the commands. Like I said I have spent considerable time on this and it works for everything except the phone.
Google voice is what Android uses to make voice phone commands and the Pioneer head unit does complete that function fine. The previous poster said that others have been able to get the programming to work but that was with the Kenwood head units.
PAC is working with me on this and I hope we can work it out.

I installed the backup camera harness today and I did not retain the backup grid lines like in the mirror. I installed the harness to keep both feeds so I still have the lines in the mirror. So while I cannot say that that they are all the same, it seems that the Pioneer head units do not have the lines.
