It looks ridiculous on the ZL1 1LE. I'd never trash the beautiful lines of the 5th gen with an ugly ricer type 6th gen part.

I responded to the douchebaggery, I didn't begin it.

This thread doesn't seem to be going anywhere so I'll leave you guys to continue talking to yourselves about your big engines and big egos.

I would try to get a used trunk lid to modify before trying that wing .. so you don't risk making extra holes if you don't like it.

I thought it was the v6 guys causing the trouble? I only saw support from the v8 guys. I still hope you try it and let us know.....

Like any project, it's as successful as the workmanship. How it looks is only important to the owner...until time to sell.

At what specific point does a spoiler become a wing? When the piece parallel to the trunk lid is raised by 3", 8", 22"?

IMHO, the term "wing" was always reserved for 1994 Hondas that have been given the Fast and Furious treatment.

You might want to tell GM that they are wrong in their description then.

I think the only real question would be the mounting points of the outer posts in relation to the trunk lid. It would appear that those posts are far enough in that they would clear the top of the rear quarter panel on the C5. It does appear that there is slight more curve to the rear on the Gen 6, but not enough to really make a difference, especially with a raised wing like this.

The part of this to really consider is the support, or possible lack of support for the mounting points. You don't want to bolt a large, high wing like this into thin flat sheet metal, it needs to be bolted into the support molding in the trunk lid.

BTW, this is only a waste of time if you let yourself get wrapped around the axle by the posts that express opinions of why you should or shouldn't do this. Let that stuff go and stick with the ones that honestly trying to help. Understand that none of us really have the "answer", as many of us haven't seen the car in person. I personally haven't seen the support structure for the Gen6 trunk lid, though I've been parked next to a couple and can say that there isn't much difference in the general shape of the rear end.

Anyway, good luck, keep asking questions. Remember, every problem has a solution...and every solution has a problem.

IMO a spoiler is vertical and a wing is horizontal ...

A spoiler disrupts (spoils) the airflow between the roof and the rear of the car to prevent lift. Otherwise air flows from the trailing edge of the roof to the back of the car in a bee line. Leaving a hole under it and creating a low pressure area on the deck lid.

A wing provides downforce.

As stated in post #37, I guess some of you folks need to call GM and tell them brush up on their automobile vernacular.

IMHO, wing=ricer.

Just to be clear,

"Spoiler" is the generic term..."Wing" is a type of spoiler

Like Beer is generic...IPA is a type of beer
Whiskey is generic, "bourbon" is a type of whiskey
Steak is generic..."Ribeye" is a type of steak

Okay, got it?
