You cant argue with a GTR. Puts down cars twice its price all day long. Seems like youve done everything you have wanted to your camaro and are ready for something new. Then you can Get the Alpha 9 pacakage

If you actually have the means to comfortably own this car DO IT !. Not only will you be a one of a kind on the road, if you ever line up against any pony car including an SS you both know they don't have a chance in hell, and we all knows that's a great feeling :-).

Spend more time downtown. Or at TMS or Mosport. Lots of GTRs to see.

However, buy what you want, I don't believe people should buy something because it's made in their country of origin if you like the GTR by all means buy it, and get rid of the SS.
If I had known in advance I'd have to dump as much as I have into my SS to have it perform the way I wanted, perhaps I would have got a GTR too.
With that said though, I love the way my SS truck feels zooming around with that LSX in there. Can't wait for the 9" rear and 275' / 315'. GTR what GTR, oh the one in the rear view mirror.
I smoked one last summer, it was pretty easy.
Smoked it where? On the street? He wasn't trying. On the track? You're lying.* They lay waste to pretty much everything on track days.

Not really calling you a liar as I can only assume this was on the street. If it wasn't I'm calling the GTR driver a rank amateur.

Friend,
Been around the GTR..better check the cost of upkeep. Oil changes are horribly expensive and the brake job that has to be done by the dealer is in the 1,000's. Now, the tranny, very fancy, very expensive. All these together, KEEP YOUR CAMARO!

Two COMPLETELY different cars. Try an evo with a few grand in it, it'll beat your camaro too. Wanna drive an evo over your camaro? No.

Truth be told, I love the camaro, were in not for the wonderful camaro community, I would go GTR over the camaro any day.

Sounds like you want the GTR more, so go for the GTR dude, nothing holding you back. Also sounds like you'll enjoy it more.

Also you guys aren't called United Statesians so that is why anything from your country is called American....

Dude if you can swing it, get the GT-R. Asking for opinions on this site probably won't get you the best advise lol. A lot of people on this forum aren't car people...they're Camaro and Camaro only people. Big difference.

OMG get the GTR! its un-naturally amazing on all levels! Some people will complain about the upkeep but most of the simple stuff that people complain about (brakes, tires, oil) you can take care of yourself for alot less then going through a dealer. Thats what ive noticed while sneaking around GTR forums, youll save alot doing that. The GTR is my dream car so id punch a baby and kill a little of kittens for one

GTR is an expensive beast.....but a beast nonetheless. Put enough money into anything and it'll exceed every expectation of the stock car by who knows how much, aesthetics are all a matter of opinion.

Calbert1999 is over 900HP at 4100lbs. Thats 4.55 lbs/HP

GT-R is about 530hp at 3800lbs. Thats 7.2 lbs/hp

So i dont think he was lying esp if from a roll. Slap a Pedders Justice road course package on it with Forgelines and Bridgestone Potenzas and it will better a ZL1 by quite a margin and would probably hang pretty good with a GT-R on a road course......

14.1 MPG. Higher than 9.

The GTR just STICKS to the ground. I dont think I could spin it if I tried. There's absolutely zero body roll

Its all wheel drive

I think the GTR is a great achievement. I'm not sold on the looks so much, but that is me and my opinion. If I had the money, no question I'd consider it.
I'll give you my take on it though, having worked on and driven both.
The GTR is heavy like the Camaro. It doesn't look as good to me, but it's not Prius ugly. The GTR is a much higher quality product. It will last longer driven harder. The inside is way nicer than an SS. The noise is great once modded.
The GTR is only special when driven really hard.
For the same money on mods after purchased, the GTR wins every time. This is even with the "GTR Tax" that everybody prices in. Add in the fact that a lot more power can be made and hooked up.
The GTR is more expensive to maintain, but keeps its value far better.
The Camaro is fun all the time. Looks good, and is cheap to maintain.
I know it can be modded like a mustang can, to be very fast. That said, drive a 550whp SS with suspension mods, tires, blower, etc then drive a GTR with just a turbo upgrade and mid-pipe(tune obviously) that makes 600whp, puts it down and doesn't ride like a racecar. You get what you pay for.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the GTR is amazingly aerodynamic too.
It's similar to the cobalt SS guys hating on the Camaro saying they can make theirs faster, cheaper, etc. You start higher on the ladder, and you get a better, faster car with less modifications and compromises.
If you like the looks enough to love it, buy it tomorrow and start your journey!
