Gotcha. I knew I read that he got rid of something for his 5.0. Just assumed it was the GT500.

I had fun back in the late 1980'-early 1990's beat up on 5.0's with my 1969 428 CJ Mach I. The 5.0 guys were always good to go and figured they were the shit. I put black electric tape over the 428 Cobra Jet emblems on my hood scoop just to entice the unsuspecting 5.0 or IROC guys. A friend of mine got a new 1987 Buick GN for a grad present(he still has the car) and that was a fast car in the day. My 428 CJ was still faster but that V6 pounded on many 5.0's and F-body's of the day.
There was one car show/track day in Calgary Alberta back in the early 1990's and the temp was in the mid 90 degree range by the time we got to start making runs. Plus the DA was in the 6000+ range. My first run was a disappointing 14.20 and all the 5.0 guys were laughing at me as they figured they were 13 sec cars....that was until only one of them even managed to crack into the 14's. Most of them were in the low to high 15 range. I had the last laugh on that day.
Here's a pic on the track that day.

Nice ride... I'm a fan of the old cars too... i mean the current cars are perfect for this day and time, but they'll never replace those cars. The Buick GN still beats on ppl now ... Don't see em too much anymore, but when we do... its not one to mess with!! I was behind a GN leaving the dragstrip about 3 months ago, I followed him for few miles and I guess we running about 35 to 40??... he stomped on it and left about 30 foot of rubber... guess he thought i was gonna jump on him... He couldn't fool me, i already knew what he had

Umm, no. No it won't.

Did you actually read this thread, or did you just dart off to the end and post?

Yeah, I miss my Mach I (sold it back in 1996 for $19,000) I have a video in my archives of me at the track pulling 4th gear at around 100 mph and getting a good solid screech out of the rear tires. I had a fun 13 years with that car.

Forget what a competing dealer says.

When I drove my Camaro LS to a Ford dealer feigning interest in an 11 v6 Stang (they look better in person than in photos), nearly every salesman emptied out of the dealership and surrounded my car for a closer look.

One salesman even asked if he could sit in it. Being the nice guy that I am, I let him.

I hope you had some wet wipes handy to wipe the shit stain off the seat when he got out.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

At least its a little different than the random "ZOMG 5.0L" rhetoric that goes around here in the versus section.

And..? Check my posts if you want. I'm not some sort of fanboi poster in here and most of my posts are reasonable, respectful, and unbiased.. But if you guys really believe he emptied out a car lot of salesmen who were for some reason "dying" to have a look at a v6 Camaro.. Be my guest.. An exotic maybe, but a V6 Camaro? Ok..

And no, I highly doubt they would rush out for an SS or GT either.
not anymore anyways...

Currently driving my 2SS/RS VR w/ white stripes. I had 4 people from the Dodge showroom walk across the street to the Chevy dealer to see my car.

I think it was just how the color combo looked more than being a Camaro SS/RS. I know if I saw a Red GT500 w/ white stripes I'd go check it out even though I think the Mustang/GT500 are ugly.
