What scrming says! And auto does lose some more through the drivetrain but gearing is good and we have the converter to multiply the torque better then a manual so it helps to even things out a bit.
And seriously this is not what we have come to think of as an auto, this thing is really setup as a performance trans. As Scrming has said all you do is tap the gas and it downshifts 1-2 gears, hit it a little harder and into 2nd it goes! If you want to shift put it into sport mode and tap shift it.
Main thing is to know what type driving you will do and go with that also.28 years of manual camaros in stop and go I was not getting another one. I love the auto

I like my auto V6, traded a manual Sunfire for it and sure manuals are fun to drive but for my DD with traffic I prefer the auto, if it was a weekend car I'd go with the manual. But it's just whatever you feel more comfortable with in the long run.

I test drove both and both were very fun to drive. I went with the auto due to an arthritic knee. I say go with what works for you.

And it is NOT at all slugish. It will downshift and lay you back in the seat quite nicely. The choice between an auto and a manual is really a personal one based on how much you love to shift. My 2011 is the first Camaro with an automatic that I've had, but I like it. Since it was to be mostly my wifes car, and it will see probably 80%+ of it's miles in town, an automatic just seemed like a lot more civilized car for us to have.

manual here and no other way to go for me. it is harder to launch yes but if you are a good shifter you could shift as fast or almost as fast as the auto anyway. but for me its just the fun of the stick driving around, changing my own gears without the computer trying to do something i dont' want it to do.

BUT you have to remember that the manual is a dying breed in all cars and won't be around forever so if you like them enjoy them while you can still get them b/c they will be gone soon enough.....
