Yes, but LS7 will be replaced by S/C 6.2s. As fuel standards tighten making more power with more displacement just isn't going to cut it. Look how the Mustang's huge V6 makes less power than most modern 3.5s or 3.6s

so the new challanger is only goign to have 245 as the widest tire width???? even with a 400+ hp 6.1??? i like the fact they are putting 20's on. which lees me to think the camaro will, but i recomend chevy doing a little more wide of a tire than a 245.

I'd put money on the 18"f, 19"r tire wheel combo on the Camaro... GM already has the that wheel size in production on the C6, so it is a natural crossover for the 5th gen
Chrysler is probably putting that size tire on the Challenger because its cheaper... and they know the aftermarket will be going nuts with it after the car comes out... remember when the 4th gen Z28 had, as the biggest tire you could get, a 16" wheel with 245/50-16s? you had to go to the SS to get a bigger wheel/tire... GM knew that they could achieve a good balance of stability and mpg with the 16" wheels, so why go any farther? I'm betting Chrysler is doing the same with the Challenger

Anyone else find it surprising that they are going to make a V6 'volume' version of this car??? Isn't it supposed to be extra-special-rare? I thought this was going to be a collectors item? I don't see ANYTHING collectable about it now.?
AND it looks wicked heavy. ~LSx

I think initially it was supposed to be a low-volume car. But then I thought I read somewhere that plans changed, and didn't Cerebus kinda over-ride the limited-run thing when they came in?
Personally, I don't think Cerebus is gonna keep the Challenger around for very long. Unfortunately, I don't believe it's a big loss, because it's just another rendition of the Charger/300 chassis. |

Ha! That confirms my suspicions too.
The normal V8 is only the 5.7L with 340hp, I posted that somewhere else. The performance of this thing won't be too far off from the Charger....from V6 all the way to SRT-8. They will be very similar. Well they gave the challenger some very steep rear end gears for the the 6 speeds....that will help with the accel over the Chargers. That rumored 6.4L will be saved for later I think. These companies aren't going to lay all their cards on the table at once. |

Oh, man that list is good. Reason being, GM will undoubtedly read what Dodge is offering to compare for the Camaro. If GM wants to be one step above everyone else, it'll look like I'm finally going to be getting some of the up to date options for my regular every day driver.
I'm talking about simple things that could be added which would give it that little extra: universal garage door openers, compass, heated seats, hands free phone, folding rear seat??? This list is really good for the Challenger. Hell, even though it's going to be heavier than crud, I'd buy one if I had the cash. That gets me excited! |

This is probably the best news I've heard in a while. Over 10,000 people have already put orders in within months. And these are only the people with "large quantities" of money (presumably). Ready to shell it all out for the overpriced, sure-to-be gouged Challenger - that really isn't going to be all that 'fun' to drive, when compared to the Camaro.....10,000 people!!! At least we know that this market is still alive, yes?
Imagine a cheaper, better-looking, and more 'fun' Camaro!
