True...but if your car is tuned right, it will run without it just fine.

Safe advice: I ran meth on my 05 cummins and "saved" $50 by not getting the electronic isolation check valve from Snow Performance. I parked on a steep driveway and the meth gravity drained into the intake causing the cummins to hydro lock and bent a valve, cracked a piston, and then cracked the block. $13,000 later I had a new cummins crate engine.
By the isolation valve and wire it in! Crap happens. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk |

I just retuned for my meth system yesterday and got 30 rwhp and 30 lbs of torque extra. I added meth more for the IAT cooling factor than more power. The temps are 35 degrees lower and stay that way after multiple dyno pulls. I think it is a choice between max power and safety and I don't feel like doing a motor right now so I chose the safe route. There is no question that we could have gotten another 30-40 hp out of it if I wasnt concerned about keeping it safe. I would rather enjoy my car than visit my engine rebuilder.

Ok, guys i don't know what to go with nitrous or a meth system, I have heard bad stories on nitro system blowing up engines, how bought the meth system, I am kind of new to this. I would prefer to go with a meth system, also does it works like the nitro system where u activated only when you are going to race or is it on all the time for street driving, and does some thing bad happens if you ran out of meth?

My question is how was your baseline so Low to begin with? How much Gain was from the Tune, and How Much was From the Meth addition? Did you also change a Pulley? I just don't want guys to get the wrong Idea about meth systems, I have been using them for over 30 years and they do have they're Problems. Gains like that are usually attributed to Other Factors. On a Perfectly Tuned Car on Pump Gas, You can turn the Meth on and Lose Power back to back, it usually takes a smaller pulley and additional tuning to take advantage of the Meth system. The Meth system alone can Not achieve these results. Ted.

Good points, I am a bit confused though. I can see the water in the injection cooling the iats producing more power but how come everyone keeps saying that they dont believe meth should be used to produce more power as far as increasing boost and timing? If you didn't want to produce more power by making your car rely on the meth than wouldn't you just run water to decrease iats and produce slightly more power this way? |
