Does sound like wind noise. Try to change your heater from panel to defrost mode or whatever. See if it changes. I am a heavy truck tech and have chased down my share of rattle noise complaints. You would be amazed how sound travels. The area where you hear the sound coming from may be caused by a part vibrating nowhere near it, but somehow the vibration get transmitted and produces a sound. There may be some plastic fender moulding in the wheel well that is shaking, but some reason it ends up sounding like it is behind the dash somewhere.

I have the same issue with mine. I don't hear a thing until the speedo says 80. Then something in or behind the dash makes a steady rattle/vibrating sound. Only way I can get rid of it is to slow up or turn up the radio.

I have an idea

Try this, on the passenger side, between the back edge of the hood and the bottom of the windshield, tap your fingertips on the black plastic cover at the bottom of the windshield, no it is not the windshield molding, it is the black cover where dry leaves always end up. If tapping on it creates a rattle, you might have found the source. It is fastened down by 2 plastic body fasteners which you can remove/reinstall easily.

On mine, it makes a rattle when I tap my fingers on it. The covers spans the width of windshield, but it feels solid in the middle and the driver's side. I am guessing that engine vibration or the wind at 80+mph is making that cover piece rattle. When I get around to it, I'll apply tape underneat it to hold it down better.

The plastic cover on mine seems pretty secure all the way across it. Only thing I did notice is at the very ends of it there are 2 tabs that bend up over the windshield. The driver side one sits on the glass but the passenger side has a bit of play in it, maybe 1/4 inch. If you press on it, it will tap against the glass. Not sure if it's the culprit or not but i'll try taping it down later to see if it makes any difference.

Very interesting thread. I also noticed a rattle type noise while cruising on the highway doing 80+mph coming back from Tampa. As soon as I dropped my speed down under 80mph or so, the noise would go away.

So keep us posted.

Anyone figure the high speed dash rattle out yet? Had my car about 3 weeks now and have the exact same noise above 70 mph. I noticed the bracket that holds the windshield washer nozzles is not very firmly attached so I put some little round velcro pieces on it yesterday to hold it in place better but I haven't had a chance to take it out and see if that fixed it. I don't really know if that much wind could get under there anyway, but it's a thought.

I took the car to the dealer and they kept it for almost 3 weeks before telling me that they cannot figure out where the sound is coming from.

I advised them of the service bulletin for the gurgling/rice crispy sound and they fixed that. They also told me there was a service bulletin for a loose cowling and windshield moulding. They removed my windshield, secured the cowling and replaced the window moulding. My service advisor told me that he taped every part imaginable and was not able to locate the source of the sound.

Eventually he was told my GM and his manager that since the sound is only heard at speeds above 80 MPH there is nothing more that can be done until the sounds gets worse and they can locate it without driving at that high of a speed.

I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and if it has been remedied.
I noticed a distinct rattle at top speed once too, it was coming from the pillar right by my head I only hear it when its hot out but I'm not happy since only Fords have rattled in my past....

i aso noticed the windshield fluid bracket was a little loose. I taped it up and the rattle was still audible. I have yet to figure out where the noise is coming from.

I still have not figured out where the noise is coming from. Everytime I think I find something that may explain it, the noise returns.

you may want to check out this thread. Some of the suggestions may solve your problem. Unfortunately they did not solve mine.

I got an idea, anybody check the Pollen filter? It is on the outside of the car by the front dash. It could be flopping around or something could of gotten in there. It is on the passenger side.

I have the same issue and it seems to be coming from the driver side corner near the windshield it happens at random times like going over bumps or high speeds like everyone else said. It's driving me crazy!!! I think my windsheild isn't glued on tight...when I push against it, it stops and then returns after a while once I let go...
