Dash Rattle

Since first taking possession of my Camaro, I have noticed a rattle that sounds to be coming from the dash area of the car. I only notice the sound when I am up to freeway speeds of 80 MPH or more. I took the car to the dealer and they kept it for almost 3 weeks before telling me that they cannot figure out where the sound is coming from.

I advised them of the service bulletin for the gurgling/rice crispy sound and they fixed that. They also told me there was a service bulletin for a loose cowling and windshield moulding. They removed my windshield, secured the cowling and replaced the window moulding. My service advisor told me that he taped every part imaginable and was not able to locate the source of the sound.

Eventually he was told my GM and his manager that since the sound is only heard at speeds above 80 MPH there is nothing more that can be done until the sounds gets worse and they can locate it without driving at that high of a speed.

I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and if it has been remedied.

So did my service advisor, but the rattle is still there. GM told him that I shouldn't be driving above 80 MPH. How can GM build a car like this expect people not to drive at least that fast.

Have you removed everything from your glove box? I had a vinyl dealer book that contained all my paperwork that was sliding and rattling around. I put some of that puffy shelf liner in the box to keep it from moving around.

My glove box is also empty. I really believe that it is a wind related noise as it only happens at freeway speeds.

I have a 2LT/RS and have noticed a buzzing sound coming from somewhere inside the dash. I hear it during LIGHT acceleration. However, I hear it at all speeds, not just high ones. Does this sound similar?

I only hear the sound above 80 MPH. I have taken it over extremely bumpy conditions and at varied RPMs and do not hear the sound. At 80 MPH or above it is as though someone flips a switch and the sounds turns on.

Could it be some sort of feedback from the speaker over on that side? The electrical systems are so complex now. That might explain why they can't find anything physically wrong. Maybe a loose connection that only happens at highway speed because of the increased road vibration.
