Yes, but the M3 starts at 56,000. Thats at least 25, if not 30,000 more than the camaro will start. For 25-30 grand, you could buy a lot of aftermarket parts...

thats allllllot. let me say this, from someone who has had alot of fun in ALOT of 'M' Models. The new M3 E92 is somewhat dissapointing for it being in the 60s-70s. ive seen 0-60 in 4.1 but that is a fabricated number. more like 4.7-4.5 I know if i was in an SS id look to race the M3 off the lights, and id be pretty confident about it too. minor upgrades and the SS will be using the M3 as toilet paper off lights. As for the .9 grip for camaro, im happy with that. every reviewer Challenger had raved about the handling, and our car will feel MUCH lighter than the challenger, with the same (or BETTER!!!) handling. |

That is why I was VERY close to buying a BMW 135i manual, they have much more off the line torque then the new M3 and many say the 135i feels much more fun on the streets. Many people that were ready to buy a new M3 are buying 135i's instead.
The M3 on a track will kill a 135i due to higher HP at high RPM's plus the M3's computor is AWESOME. Fully adjustable for suspension and launch control. I just hope the Camaro SS has the road feel I keep reading BMW's have. If its close to the BMW I will be happy. |

After looking at the hp/torque numbers and fuel estimates for the m3 I am not impressed at all. Sure it's lower displacment motor with as much power. But it's torque curve is nowhere near as flat and the consumption is absolutly horrible given the size of the car.

one thing that kind of bugs me about the M series is the giant steering wheel. i understand the Germans think that enables you to 'feel' more, but honestly, its a little bit annoying at first.

Pedders has been working on a special Camaro project. There is some information we can post in the forum and other information we are not allowed to post until it is released officially by GM. Based on the car that was displayed at the Woodward Cruise last week, we can release this information.
![]() FRONT SUSPENSION Front Geometry ![]() ![]() Front Strut, Coil and Boot ![]() Strut, Endlink and Tie Rod ![]() REAR SUSPENSION Trailing and Radius Arms ![]() Forward Sub-frame Bush ![]() Aft Sub-frame Bush ![]() Coil Over Shock ![]() Sway Bar, Endlinks and CV Shafts ![]() There is no wheel hop in this chassis as is common with IRS vehicles. We can tell you that the IRS is robust. The front suspension slightly modified from the ZETA / VE / Commodore G8 with essentially stronger control arms designed to handle more power with larger wheel and tire combinations. The ZETA II Camaro may well be the most structurally sound vehicle in the GM line-up exceeding the strength of the 322 / CTS. Keep in mind the CTS is as strong or stronger than the alleged best of the best coming out of Europe. The Camaro as delivered from the Dealer will be the best of the Modern Muscle on the road and with modification to the engine and suspension capable of running with anything short of the exotics. There is a reason Chevy built the ZR1. It is called the Camaro. If you would like to read about the build on my G8 from suspension to ProCharger to Corsa with soon to come six and four pot brakes here is the link. http://forums.peddersusa.com/showthread.php?t=328 |
