When you hit the paddle shifter in the Lambo it shifts, when I hit mine, it shifts.

Why didn't they put the LS3 in the automatic car?

To avoid the gas guzzler tax. The L99 has AFM which is simply valve cancellation. With a simple tune the L99 wakes the hell up. The L99 is so restricted it has so much more potential than the LS3 if you ask me.

Driven both. L99 is an amazing engine and a good transmission, however LS3 is more fun to drive.

I only drove the L99 (Avis rental upgrades) for about 6 weeks and then went to a dealership and drove the LS3... and I was SOLD!

Autos are faster, safer and cheaper. Paddleshift is enough fun for me. I'm not a high school kid trying to impress anyone.
Auto's are not cheeper, faster, or safer, If you coast you get better fuel economy, you also have more power, you save a grand right off the bat and there cheeper to maintain. hey I hope these cars will provoke a new generation here in America to get manuals. It seems our Industry the past two decades has been trying to get rid of the manual by not offering a manual in anything good here in the USA.
Thanks GM for giveing us a good 6 speed

The automatic is also a 6 speed. And yes, they are faster, cheaper and safer.

I bet my L99 will tear your LS3 a new one at the track, even with your mods. I'm sorry if I don't read up on technical aspects of cars, I race mine. I see you ran a 13.4 with your mods. Ouch. In your "fast' LS3. Also, weren't you the kid all worried about "the way I drive?" Oh yeah, here it is:

Funny how a car expert such as yourself has about 50 threads about "CAI + EXHAUST HELP?" "CAI+EXHAUST WITHOUT TUNE!?!?!?" "DO I NEED HEADERS."

Well I learned to/drove a stick in Panama (central america). Traffic is bumper to bumper like NY and there are hills everywhere. It was such a mess.

I think it's not much about impressing anyone just nice to feel your car and shift your own gears, also takes some skill. instead of "press and go"
To the OP Did you make the user name after you had the car or before? lol

My car has paddle shifters.... If you're actually going to argue technicality of paddle shifters to me then

ANd it's faster when a pro is driving it. Every run in on the highway I have had with LS3 I have won. Sure the LS3 has 26 more horsepower, but it requires the driver to be almost as good at shifting as the computer, which is pretty rare in your average joe and with a simple dyno tune the L99 will beat even a pro driver in the LS3.

Tuned L99 > tuned LS3.

And auto will always be easier, faster and cheaper in the long run.
But when racing, who wants to have help by a computer? I want to be in charge of the shifting. What do you do in the twistys with that auto? Ive had an L99 and TAPshifting (there are no paddles) that thing in the turns was a joke! Turn the wheel over 180 degrees and you don't know which ways up shift or down.. useless. I traded my L99 for LS3 because IMO if you are going to drag or track race, it should be done in a stick to really be controlling the ENTIRE cars power train. IMHO letting a "computer" shift for you is cheating. There is NOTHING wrong with the L99, don't get me wrong, awesome motor and easy to drive. I think it's more of a kick ass daily driver. Where's the fun in "mash and go" anyway?

True race/performance car
LS3 > L99 Again JMO, I've owned both.

Your thread should have said "I should of bought a grandsport instead". I wasn't the manual. I was the corvette that made the difference. They are light years ahead of the camaro in performance. If you want a real rush go for the Z06. Best bang for the buck.
