......I've seen the data logs... I've seen the dyno sheet... I've talked to the GM engineers... I know 93 makes a difference...

Scrming...man...how do you have the patience to put up with the people who spout off on this issue after you've done the research, the investigation, etc. You have proven empirically that 93 makes a difference in the V6. And yet, we still get nimrod's that say its a waste of money. My hat is off to ya Man!

I've been running 93 in mine, y'all can run what you want to. My dealer says they run fine on 87 but run better on 93.

When I got my car it would surge from 1500 to 3500, changed to 93 octane and no problem since. That is enough for me. Sometimes it seems to me that we all are back in 5th grade and saying "my dad's bigger that your dad" stuff. If you have hard evidence that "your dad is bigger" than why can't we just back down and agree to the facts. This is not in "our heads" look at the facts.

Enough said, Flame away..........

The owner's manual clearly states "minimum octane rating of 87", (for cars with the V-6) which means you can run higher octane rated fuel in the car. It will not hurt the vehicle.

Mixing Octane 87, 89and 91/93, will not hurt the car whatsoever. Where in the heck did that come from?

Since I have an SS, I don't have a dog in this. But please get the facts straight.

If the OP feels that running premium grade fuel in his car makes it run and perform better, that is his business.

I used to watch my fuel economy very closely years ago. When I ran regular in my 1979 Chrysler Newport, the fuel economy was almost 10% less than when I would run premium on long trips. granted that was a long time ago. But, it was a personal decision to run whichever type of fuel I wanted.

You've NEVER heard that from me! Bought the one car on a Wednesday evening and had the car at the track on Sunday (even though it was my wedding anniversary... )

While i agree in part, you logic is flawed. GM designed the V6 to fill an economy nitch. Why would engineers design a economical sports car solution to run on premium gas? Does that not mitigate the benefit of an "economy" engine in a sports car?

With that said, data clearly indicates a performance increase with higher octane quality fuel. The mere fact that timing is pulled with lower octant can lead to an inferential assumption that performance somehow suffers. Sure, it doesn't turn a V6 into a V8, but it does smooth things out a bit.

I however chose 87, but because i am a cheap ass.

Been using 89 (mid-grade) lately since I'm on the fence about the whole octane thing. My car seems happy
