The reason that I asked the question is not because I had any doubt that the car has been a success for the buyers - but sometimes this does not work out to be a success for the manufacturer. Having seen the Camaro production run from 1967 - 2002 and to be stopped just shows you that any car is at risk due to circumstances that we may not even be aware of.

Scott - thank you for your answer. I am sure that you cannot come out and say exactly what you want to say but we all know what you mean. It is such an outstanding feeling to know that we can talk to, provide input and get information from the very team that is building these cars. This is unheard of with anything these days and you, your team and GM has taken great strides to bridge a gap that existed - and I think the payoff is being shown when each month the Camaro outsells the Mustang.

As for the MPG ratings requirements for the future - I am sure GM will figure something out. Back in '97 when I bought my C5 corvette and was getting almost 30mpg on the highway I knew that you guys could work magic !!

I think the camaro is what saved gm. I don't meN the actual sales but i think the hype brought people in to the dealers to see what the hypes about, in turn they saw other cars they were more fitting to there family needs such as the cruse equinox and etc

Yeah, he's the main guy behind the 5th Gen coming back. Of course, there's a whole TEAM dedicated to the Camaro at GM, but you can say fbodfather (Scott) is one of the top dogs.

there isn't even a question in my mind, you spend a day driving "her" around and just watch the people turn and stare. we are in awe when we drive them and the people watching us are at awe when they see one. Pretty awesome all the way around in my book.

hes more than that, He used to be Asst. brand manager for Camaro/firebird before they stop making them. I do believe hes been with GM for 50yrs now

He has held many positions with GM, But he is currently manager of Pre production vehicles. YES he is IMPORTANT.

I couldn't care less who thinks it's a success. All I care is that it's in my driveway!

Hmm considering the 45th will be out this year I'll take that bet.

Anywhoo - The question was - does GM see the Camaro as a success?

Many things go into a 'success' - but I think YOU -- as our enthusiasts - can also help to answer that question.

Point: Many Camaros journeyed to Oshawa - and every time I asked someone how they liked their Camaro - they tell me (and very enthusiastically I might add...) how much they love their new Camaro. That said, I'm quite certain that there are those out there that do NOT love their new Camaro - for one or more reasons -but anyone who spends any amount of time around owners of the 5th gen will tell you that this car is not just a car - and that it 'moves' them in ways they didn't know possible.

Another point: I get hundreds of emails telling me how great the car is on a long trip - how comfortable it is - and how the driver arrives refreshed - not beat up.

Still another point: People still stop and stare at a new camaro - that's because of its design - it simply turns heads.

Yes - we're outselling Mustang month after month (and this was even before we had our convertible model) There was an article in Automotive News this week - Chrysler may have some concerns about where they go with Challenger - and I was quite shocked at the article.......but their volume isn't where they thought it would be.

I hate to say we see the Camaro as a success because:

>you never wanna jinx anything

and

>I don't want people to think that we're ready to 'rest' - the Camaro team is NEVER satisfied - and we will continue to work on improvements. (...hint: The ZL1 will be a 'shock and awe' kind of car. We were out at Milford Proving Ground last week with both the manual and automatic transmission cars - and when I say "Ultra-Grin" - I MEAN ULTRA GRIN!)

I think the Camaro is a great source of pride for GM, our dealers, our vendors, and most important: OUR CUSTOMERS!

By the way -- anyone who tells you that we have a date for a 6th gen Camaro is wrong.......not sayin that there won't be one - but it's still out there in the future - - pray that our government does not pass 60mpg CAFE for 2021........

I have other thoughts -- but I'm gonna be late for the Auction!

More later.

Question: Do YOU see the new Camaro as a success???

Scott, you already know that I love my HWAY STR a teeny, tiny, little bit
