However since it 90-degrees around most of the country we are not going to see 4.7 second times, we need cool, dry air to run those times...even the almighty LS3 won't run 0-60 in 4.7 seconds in this heat. I'm not making fun of people, I am simply pointing out that I think many are over-reacting.

Are these folks really having serious mechanical problems? I miised something if that is the case.
My L99 is very slow, much slower than my 05 GTO, it is supposed to be faster. I took it to the dealer and they said everything is fine?????? They told me I had to take it to a dyno and bring the results back. I dont need to take it to a dyno, my son's non WS6 Trans am automatic pulled me by 3 car lengths where my bone stock GTO automatic would pull him by 3 lengths. Something is defiantly wrong and it is not running up to advertised power. Very dissapointing, looks great, runs slow!

If traction control is on you will get walked. I was embarrassed by my friends Challenger R/T on the street the first time I tried to run anyone. Well, at the track with TC off Iit was a different story. I had time to proactice and learnerd what rpm I needed to stage at. We raced 4 times and I was one second quicker than him every race, the last race we had identical 60' times because I was lazy.

My point is I think you just may need to figure out how to launch the new Camaro. I had a lot of difficulty the first few times, it is a completely different animal compared to my LT Z28.

Weird, my L99 pulls 0-60 like a bat out of hell and I am getting 18.3mpg (that is with taking it all out every now and then, not taking it easy). I have 1000 miles on it, have done an oil change already. It has power, before I know it I am at 100 miles an hour going OMG please no cops!

Sounds like something is up - check your air filter make sure something like a mouse didn't block it.

OK went to the Audio Shop today Got the 2010 out in some sun light next to the '67' Z28 and got some pic's.
They told me I had some time if I wanted to take it out and around town.

Well thought of this thread. Pulled out it is in a industral section put it in manual held the button down 7+ sec (lights showed up on tac). cruzed down to the end of the Complex (Right in front of the twp police Auto Pull.)
Brake Gass up aroung 2K no go.
Brake Gass up and over 2500 Man it then roared let off the brake.
The back end went squirrely and started floating so much that I needed to adjust steering to stay stright; Quick shift to 2nd and then third stoped spinning.

This ride has gobs of power it is just a mater of hooking up. I am happy now. Took back to shop Smelling of Rubber.

Went back in AV and could See 2 strips of rubber.

My L99 Smokes!

Sorry to hear you’re not getting what you expected....

Although I totally agree with the statement "break it in as your going to drive it" which was theory taught to me by my drag racing neighbor back in high school. In 1976 when I rebuilt my 67 GTO 400 4-sp w/ six-pack, within the first week I out ran a local cop at who said he was going 135+ and I was pulling away...and got away!!! That really broke that motor in well but I do NOT suggest anyone do it in that manner. It was stupid. But in high school stupid is as stupid does.

I've had my Camaro for 4-weeks (in the airbrush shop for 2-weeks), and with my 2SS I hit the rev-limiter during the first drive home from the dealership. Not that I EVER keep sustained revs above 4000 RPM for more than just a few seconds (only 800 miles on it) , but I believe you have got to stretch out and loosen up all those new parts (I guess train the computer these days too), and seat the rings where you will be running them once the car is broke in.

Rant over. After reading this thread I was disappointed, and curious, so I took my Camaro out and ran 0-60 about six times using trip-tronic manual mode, in performance mode. Every run was about 5 seconds for 0-60 MPH, only got it out of second gear once, hit the rev-limiter twice. Not as lightening fast, fire breathing dragon like my Z-06 but NOT bad at all for my daily commuter car!

On my last run, I put my left foot on the brake and held the revs at about 2000 RPM I let my foot off and squished it to the floor. Guess what, wheel spin off and on until second gear. In fact with the price of the RS tires I felt stupid wasting a months worth of rubber...but it was well worth it to reinforce my belief that I GOT WHAT I PAID FOR.

Sure hope everyone with a "slow" L99 can figure out what the heck is going on. If it takes a Dyno report on your car to prove it, it's a great investment because warrantee should cover the re-work. Offer to pay for the first Dyno and make them pay for the second to prove to you they fixed your performance.

Best of luck!
Kevin

I'm almost sure that the L99 Camaro is suffering from the same problem my G8 GT had when new - a flash update. Stay tuned folks, I'm sure GM will have that update within a few months.

dyno it. Normally I would expect 330-340 rwhp from 400 hp from an auto, but two L99's dyno'ed posted before were 315-320 rwhp.

yeah im wondering if they just need miles on them to get these numbers.

I read on another board where the Fbodfather said about the L99

yes, it has torque management -- but it's important to understand that the computer 'learns' as you drive it......

Once the engine breaks in (1 to 2 thousand miles is initial breakin -- ) you can start 'getting on it' -- and the computer will "learn" --

By 5,000 miles, this car is gonna perform! Big Time.

Now -- you say: well - why didn't the 4th gens do this? Answer: Active Fuel Management........that brings a whole new dimension into play...and thus the need to 'learn'.......

You need to consider a lot of factors before jumping to conclusions, like air temperature. I ran 13.8 in 85 degree+85% humidity. A Charger SRT8 with Magnaflow exhaust ran 13.9. If it were 40-degrees outside and had a perfect launch I'd have run the advretised 13.1 and would have ran a 13.2.

A 11.4 second Z06 is going to struggle to hit 12.0 in this same heat. There is not a car in the world that is not affected by heat.

Conditions are everything but the best way to launch the car is not by standing on the gas to 2000 rpm but to flash the converter [ hold the gas at 900 rpm then stab the gas and release the brake before it hit's 1500rpm ] this will give you the best launch and best 60ft ..for stock tires and stall ..
