Tremec should have a direct shifter version (T56 Magnum XL) for LSx engines soon. Currently this setup with the extended trailshaft is available for mustangs only. Otherwise you have to have it custom build like the OP did.

Has anyone tried Pfadt engine mounts or something comparable, combined with a stiffer tranny mount? It seems like we've found ways to keep things from moving all over with the higher HP builds, but I've never seen the tranny mount addressed. Seems like it would solve or lessen the engine torque vs shifter problems. Just stumbled across this thread after spending Saturday at the track granny shifting at 5500 rpm - totally sucked not being able to use the HP. 2nd ZR1 clutch w/specified spacer (not slipping or burning - holding strong), 2nd RPM Level 6 6060, completely replaced entire hydrolics & ZR1 slave - but can't even consistently granny shift under acceleration at 6k or above. Pedal has totally different feel under higher rpm shifts. Your idea of engine torque versus shifter makes sense though.... didn't notice this problem with slippery Pirelli's, but with M&H drag radials and the grip - shifting problem is nuts. I was leaning towards RPS triple since it sounds like less pedal effort, hence less stress on the crappy hydrolics - but now sounds like 50% hydrolic problems and 50% shifter/engine torque related.

Those look like they will go along way to helping with the problem... but will they be made available with the 9310 gears and shafts or will that still be up to the aftermarket folks to upgrade... I do agree, this is a step in the right direction...

Wow, sorry about the troubles... Yes, I am installing the Prothane engine mounts in conjunction with this trans upgrade...As for the trans mount, that is yet to be determined since we will either have to heavily modify the current cross member, or build an entire new one.

I'll let you know which way we go as far as that is concerned...

Here is a pic of the motor mounts... and one for nostalgic reasons...

I was surprised to see just how big they are... All the ad pics make them look tiny by comparison...

Ok, Now on to the meat of the matter...

We received the clutch today and so we can get back into the topic at hand...

There are several things to consider with the swap...

We were told to use the pilot bushing out of a Dodge Viper, which is the proper size Id for the pilot shaft... .750 inches... Thats all well and good, but one issue we ran into is the OD of the bearing doesn't fit in the crank tail snout of the Camaro...

The Fix... We machined the outer part of the bearing down to 1.705 inches and it fit perfectly.... This was the OD measurement of the factory pilot bushing.... The bushing for a Dodge Viper is almost 2.00 inches OD... A lathe is a good thing to have handy...

Problem solved... bushing installed... I don't have a pic of the bushing by itself... but here is one showing the preliminary install of the new flywheel as well as the pilot bushing...

Here is another snag we ran into...

The clutch arrives with a clutch alignment tool for the factory pilot bushing.... Not a problem, someone in the area has to have one... So, off to pretty much every parts house in town...No deal... Can't even find one online...

So, back to the lathe... We took a piece of aluminum and chucked it up...

Cut the outer part down to .747 inches, the outer dimension on the pilot shaft on the new trans... and drilled a hole .578 inches... While it was still warm, we slid it over the new 26 spline alignment tool and test fitted it... It works perfectly... so, back to the clutch install...

More later, my wife just called and invited me to dinner at Dickey's BBQ....

MTI is selling an upgraded urethane mount for the crossmember.
