I don't understand all this comlaining; at least to me it is so simple to explain...maybe I'm completely lost. The cars are not being driven by professionals and they are not being driven in ideal weather to get the best "advertised" 0-60 time. Furthermore, not a single person complaining cannot even provide a -60 time for their car....it is all speculation. Let a pro drive your car in 40-degree weather at the track and you'll really see how fast the L99 is. I'm out.

I had a guy ask me a while ago what car should he get manual or auto ? I brought this topic up what is being talked about up above and told him There are a lot of people who can drive , a lot of people who think they can drive and then the ones who cant drive. IF you wanna have fun , do burnouts , and etc get you a manual if you want a nice daily driver and choose to do a little competitive driving here and there and can admitt there is no way for you to shift perfect everytime then get the auto. WEATHER plays a big part. I love winter time cool dense mornings in TEXAS.........The air is like Candy for these motors ! |

Well as I said before, running my bone stock 2005 GTO against my sons 2000 automatic non ws6 Trans Am, the GTO with 400 horse would pull the Trans Am by 3 car lenths in identical weather. The L99 Camaro with the same advertised horspower and actually a tested 3 10's better 1/4 mile time then the GTO, the Trans Am (in equal weather conditions) pulled the Camaro by 3 car lenths. Another man said he got beat by a stock Mustang GT. What the heck something is wrong with the L99. The ones they tested are not the ones we are driving.

The ones that were tested were probably all pre-production models with a few thousand miles on them too.

Did these cars loosing have traction control on when they launched? Because I lost to my friends Challenger R/T on the srteet. I had traction control on and my car was sooo slow coming off the line. He was 2 car lengths ahead of me before I started regaining the distance. However, I practiced launching with TC off and we raced again at the track. I destroyed hiom in all 4 races by exactly 1-second. So "knowing" how to launch the car is a BIG part of the trick.

I posted this on another thread, but thought it was appropriate here too. If someone has posted something similar sorry I have not seen it. I just added the ARH headers and with high flow cats on my L99. I love the sound, but I know know why the L99 has the large resonators. It is to muffle the sound of the cylinders activating. Anyone modifying the exhaust of an L99 might want to consider what this sounds like. Unfortunately the way the car is set up there are times when the car is switching from 4 to 8 cylinders frequently. I have not had a chance to drive the car much since adding the system, but it seems like around 45 mph the RPMs drop to about 1000 and the cylinder deactivation kicks in and out often. Frankly I think GM needs to make some adjustments because at 1000 rpm the engine is so lugged down that it runs rough. Anyway, under these conditions the popping/cracking of the additional 4 cylinders firing does not sound right and gets annoying.

Anyone that wants to get there L99 to get up and flat ASS run needs to get Livernois tuning, there Transmission Tune was the best thing I did to my bone stock car... You can flat light up the tires all day long with no engine tune, but when you add there engine tuning to the tranny tune the car goes from feeling like a strong 6 cylinder car to a healthy V8... All there tuning can be done by email, no need to go to a dyno and let someone beat the piss outta your car, or practice on your car because they have not done a variable valve timing motor... Everytime I add Mods to my car I just let them know what I did and they send me a new tune, I go for a drive and data log the results and they fine tune it... I have been very pleased with there work and the results...

honestly my L99 took out a supercharged Ford Thunder truck and a Dodge SRT-4 Neon that had either Nos or a turbocharger judging by the sounds it was making definitely not stock and not supercharged with no problems and im completely stock. I was running the gears and my car feels very strong. VIN# 7314 ... Do the cars get worse when the numbers increase or something?

This thread was last posted 3 months ago they found the problems with many of the cars was due to a glitch in ecm where the cars were filled with 87 octane gas by dealer and the computer pulled back the timing. The cars SHOULD have adjusted things as 93 octane gas was used over time but didn't. A fix was found in removing two fuses and waiting a few hours for the ECM to clear then reinstalling them. Most people felt a sizeable improvement from their underperforming cars. Check the stickies for more details.
