Yes FTI is the brand. Gears would help as well but you have to have the tire I specified or better otherwise you will just be spinning and spinning aint winning. You will want to choose 3.70 or 3.91 gears. You will ONLY be able to use 3.91 gears IF you use a triple disk FTI or circle D converter. You will need to then have your tuner command lock up at WOT at the end of 4th gear. This will keep you from shifting into 5th. 3.70 gears will work for any converter but are more expensive. Basically you can choose to pay more for a high quality triple disk converter like a FTI or Circle D or have to pay more for 3.70 gears. Your choice, but I would go for the triple disk converter and 3.91 gears. You should also get a drag alignment done for the rear wheels. If you don't know what that is you need to look it up or PM Pedders. Will need to also get a great dyno and driving tune. I recommend ECS. ECS is in your neck of the woods there and they really know what it takes to send a car down the track fast.

Those STI's are fast to make up for their ugly squared sedan body.

I think the STi is a great looking car personally, not the newer ones, but from 04 to 07 the wide-bodies were killin it. OP, you should take him from a roll now as stated. If he gets to the point of swapping turbos and such, look out.

He doesn't need vht, I have beaten a full bolt on tuned Evo 9 from dig with just nt05r's and no burnout. It's dead even to 60 but walk away past that. The OP has a faster Camaro then I do. |

Yeah, you will be killed from a dig but eventually catch up (over 100 MPH). A roll race from 30 MPH would be interesting though.
Like others said, a higher stall converter, DR's, and possibly 3.91 gears will cut your 60' time dramatically. Add a cam and your car becomes a beast. Then there's heads, forced induction, etc.....

I say all this given info will help you win for sure! I would say run him the way you sit and see how it pans out! I like to jump or try and always out light awd cars. Be surprised at how the light will help

So earlier this year I raced my brother in law's STI with my SS, watch the video. We raced 4 to 5 times and he never came close. Here's the deal, the STI with those mods is a low 13 second car. My SS was setup similar to yours and was running street tires. His best run is 13.4, I've seen a few in the high 12.90's however they have extensive mods. As far as getting smoked out of the hole, it's all about driver.... |
