Is it better to put it on stands or store it without?

Everything I've read for the Camaro says not to store it with the suspension unloaded as this can cause damage. The suspension is meant to be loaded and can be damaged when unloaded for long periods of time.

The main reason people usually use stands is to prevent tire flatspotting. You can easily do that by simply moving the car each month, forward a foot one month then back a foot the next. No need for stands.

hmm. this one is tricky. in my humble opinion, it would be best to leave the car stored without jackstands, but make sure your tires are properly inflated at all times, as not to let them get flat-spotted from sitting with low air pressure. as far as the suspension goes, control arm bushings, sway bar link pins, struts and balljoints are all perfectly fine under loaded conditions, as this is how they are when the vehicle is operated, so simply letting the car sit would be perfectly fine. also make a point to start the vehicle at least once a month, let it idle to operating temperature before shutting it off if it's being stored over the winter.

on jackstands, with the jackstands supporting the car through a suspension component, as to compress the suspension, but still leave the wheel/tire off the ground... such as the lower control arm.

I guess I must be way out in left field here. I havenever worried about the "flat spot" stuff when the car is only going to sit for a couple of months. I have had a collector car for the past 12 years.
When I stored the car, I changed oil, inflated tires to proper pressure, used Sta-bil in the tank, started it every couple of weeks, and that was it. Yeah, the tires had flat spots on them, but when I drove each one of my collector cras, the flat spots were gone within the first 15-20 minutes of driving. Oh, the horror ---- NOT! Had the car been stored for years, yeah , then maybe support to prevent permanent damage may be warranted. But for a couple of months. Nope, not in my experience. It is much better to have the car sitting on it's suspension as mentioned by several previous posters on this site. Extended fully or compressed fully, may cause problems. THat is something to look out for. Besides, if you have a nice clear day in the middle of Winter and the salt has been washed away, it sure is nice to be able to easily, take your car out for a quick cruise. Just one person's, take.

Rosie is my fourth "toy" car in the last 12 years. Flat spots were never permanent. Always went away during the first major drive every spring. Never came back until the car sat in storage each year.
Not really any problem. 1979 trans am 1974 corvette 1998 camaro ss 2010 camaro 2ss

Have been storing my cars on the tires for years. Also good in case of an emergency and you need to quick get out the car e.g. Fire.

I've been winter storing for the past several years in my insulated, UNheated garage, on concrete, using only Stabil in a full tank, a battery tender, and car cover. Never had an issue. Flat spots are typically more prevelent on a high performance, low sidewall tire. These Pirellis are at best borderline for that. I had no flat spot issues last winter and don't expect to after this winter. See you in the spring.
