Angry How Much to Fix the VANDALISM

I need to fix what happened to my car in the past few days.

Ding in roof panel after a stupid kid threw a chunk of concrete at my car

Door keyed a few days later

I wanna fix it because I cant stand looking at it. Both on the dirver's side, they're like a punch in the face everytime I walk up to the car.

My neighborhood shop quoted me something like $750 for a full on repair of all damage.

Something like $200 and change for a "touch up" of both. Does that sound right $$?

I think I will go with the touch up, but only because I can't guarantee it won't happen again.

I figure the damage should be good as gone anyway, no?

I'd be pounding on the door of the kid's house who threw the concrete. That's got to be worth at least half that...

I am always paranoid that one of the neighborhood brats will do some dumb thing to mine while I'm at work so I went out and got a game camera and put it in the tree in front of my house. Whenever anyone/ anything comes into view I have a nice little pic of who/what is too close to my car.

Here are some pics. Without the camera I would never have known about the (fox/coyote) not sure what living in my neighborhood....

Killer idea on the camera...

anyway OP, yes that quote sounds about right considering the dent repair/paint and then the sanding to get the keymark out. The damage you have I wouldn't tackle myself, but if you are adept with wetsanding you could take care of the keying yourself. I don't think they are reeming you with the price though, it simply costs a lot for anything these days.

Yeah, with that dent being right on a crease-line it's gonna take some good effort to get out. That's just my feable opinion...

The key mark looks like it can just be polished out and not need painting but can't tell for sure without closer inspection.

As for the dent, a $200 touch up won't fix that. With it being right on the crease it will take some serious effort to get it out and looking like new.

Looks like I'll go with the touch up. I hope that takes care of it good enough. The guy told me they will have to "pull out" the dent. (Does that mean they'll drill a whole in it? )

And I didn't ask around for different quotes becasue these guys are within walking distance from my house so I figured I could ask here if $200 and change is fair.

I don't know what your comp deductible (comp pays out for theft, vandalism, acts of nature) is right now on your insurance, but it doesn't cost much to lower it down to let's say $100 which comes in handy for these cases. Good Luck
