T6060 upgrades

what kind of power can the stock transmission hold? Where should I be looking to upgrade other than the clutch?

Ditto on that!!! I missed a shift once ( at the strip) and now 6th gear likes to jump out sometimes. If your in 5th, I push the clutch in pull it down in neutral put back in 5th then go to 6th, no problems. But if I go from 5th to 6th jumps out.

Is it true that these transmissions aren't really suited well for the strip, even with upgrading it. Just trying to learn more about the options out there before I make a decision.

I have broke the output shaft already. Looking to up-grade it.

The Driveshaft Shop is working on a new mainshaft. There are provisions in the case for one more bearing on the mainshaft. GM squeaked out an omitted it.

You can't really rate a transmission by power, because it differs from car to car basis...... for instance a turbo car is going to put a lot less wear and tear on the transmission, at the dragstrip, than say a nitrous car

or a heavier car is going to be a lot more stress on the transmission than a lighter car.

That is the main reason why guys with 08+ c6 vettes have no problem with their tr6060's, but we are breaking the output shafts left and right.

Which leads to the output shaft issue. As mentioned before, there is no support bearing on the shaft, which allows a lot of deflection. To remedy this you can either install a support bearing (i know rpm transmissions does this) or make the shaft stronger (driveshaft shop is working on this), or if you got the dough, do both (rpm offers this in their "built" transmissions).

Then there is of course the syncros and keys and shift forks.... all of those should be upgraded, if you have it apart, but that goes with any manual transmission.

Thanks for your input. I'm only about 15 mins from D&D so I will talk with them when they return after the holiday.

Why would you be shifting into 6th at the strip?

We finally finished the package which includes a new 4340 main shaft, new output shaft, new synchro kit, and machined housing to accept new larger Viper shaft bearings and additional rear bearings. Even finished the first install and worked perfectly. PM me if you're interested!
