LS9 Cam Need Help !!!!
Hey everyone i've seen alot of things up on this site about people putting ls9 cams in the camaros. I have an L99 it has not been converted to an ls3 but if i wanted to put the ls9 cam what else would i need other than the cam itself. Since to my understanding only diffrence between the ls3 n l99 is the cam itself and couple other parts ? any input would be greatly helpful and yes i am planning on supercharging my car in the near future.

the main difference between the L99 and LS3 is the cam and lifers. the lifters in the L99 wont work with the LS9 cam, they will have to be replaced with LS7 lifters.

and you will pay 1000 to 1500 dollars to get the lifters removed and replaced. And that is labor only not parts!

With all that you have to change with a L99 it wouldn't be worth it to go with the LS9 cam unless you really wanted a mild cam. The livernois kit would probably give you 30 more horsepower than the LS9 cam which would require almost all of the same parts. For an LS3 it's a different story since the heads don't have to be pulled and you only change the cam, sprocket, and dampner.
Mast has some nice cams that keep VVT as well, don't know how they'd work with a supercharger though. |
