Exclamation Fuel Injection Gas Tank?

My car sputtered and died on the freeway yesterday. I managed to get her off the freeway after starting & stalling the car 10 more times. Come to find out the fuel filter was filled with rust. Time to replace my 43 year old gas tank

My two choices are:

1 - Stainless Steel correct replacement tank for $239

2 - Stainless Steel Fuel Injection Fuel Tank (direct replacement, 304 grade Stainless Steel, TIG welded, baffle system to control fuel tank slosh, all fittings & mounting flanges are CNC machined & include installed fuel pump) $1059

I am carbureted right now with an electric fuel pump. I plan on adding a FAST EFI set-up in the next year. Is this tank necessary? I haven't read anything in any of the articles pertaining to FAST regarding changing the fuel tank?

One of the biggest difference is the return fuel line. A bung can be added to new unused carb style tank (don't weld on used fuel tanks ) then pressure tested or add one to your stock send unit if you going to reuse your tank. Pending on the tank maker you need to look to see if it uses an internal vs external fuel pump and does it have a pick-up tube at the lower tank level. If it uses an internal pump you may not be able to use it for your current carb set up. An external style in most cases will have a pick up tube (only bigger) similar to your current style. In this case just plug the return line until your ready to make the switch and connect every thing as normal.

Pending on how much rust is in the tank you may just need to drain, clean it, coat it and you can reuse it.
