DECEL POPPING-YES AGAIN - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I KNOW DECEL POPPING WAS COVERED ON HERE SEVERAL TIMES BUT IM A LITTLE CONFUSED. I HAVE A 2010 CAMARO SS 6-SPEED WITH THE STOCK EXHAUST. PRETTY MUCH IN ANY GEAR AND AT ANY RPM WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL A SECOND OR TWO LATER I GET SOME RANDOM POPPING/GURGLING FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN IT STOPS. DIDNT REALLY BOTHER ME TOO MUCH WITH THE STOCK EXHAUST. I JUST INSTALLED THE FLOWMASTER CATBACK AND NOW IT DOES THE SAME THING BUT OBVIOUSLY ITS LOUDER. IVE HAD A FEW MUSTANGS AND CAMAROS AND IVE NEVER HAD THIS CRAPPY FEW SECOND POPPING NOISE. I COULD UNDERSTAND IF IT JUST STARTED WITH THE AFTERMARKET EXHAUST BECAUSE MAYBE IT NEEDED A TUNE BUT IT DID THE SAME THING WITH THE STOCK EXHAUST. IT SOUNDS LIKE A HONDA CIVIC WITH A FARTCAN MUFFLER WHEN YOU LET OFF THE GAS. I DONT UNDERSTAND IN THESE POSTS HOW PEOPLE LIKE THE SOUND.
IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT A DYNO TUNE?
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

From what ive heard many people have tuned them out....or bought a different exhaust system that clears the noise.....I personally love the way it sounds but thats just me!!

I dont know if I'd ever compare this car to a Civic, but... The popping noise is inhereant in LS engines. They are designed so that when they decelerate they stop pumping gas to the engine. Hence the poppoing caused by changes in preassure. You dont hear it as much from the factory do to the fact that Chevy took the time to design and exhaust and tune that helped to muffle that sound. I dont even know if you can tune that out when you have an aftermarket exhaust or not. Just be glad you dont have my set up (Stainless Works full 3" and 2"LT's) It sounds like a shotgun going of 20 or 30 times!

Well good to know it can just be "turned off"! I already get 15mpg so I think I will just suck it up and leave mine popping!!

yep, sometimes i just blip the throttle to hear it over and over again when going downhill...

Got that crappy sound tuned out when my car was in the shop for mods awhile back. Best thing I ever did.
Also,did'nt buy the car for the gas mileage so that was'nt a concern when I had the popping tuned out.

everyone has there opinion......i dont like it at all. so can i buy a handheld tuner and tune it out myself and if yes which one?

Handhelds do have the ability to do some tuning. ie Predator , but there is not an option to turn this popping off. You would have to know what you are looking for and I'm not even sure that handhelds could do it.
