I'm going to have the same personalized plates on two cars at the same time!

A little background: About 12 years ago my wife (then high school girlfriend) got me one of the best birthday presents ever! She ordered my token catch phrase as some personalized plates for my, then stock, red 98 Camaro SS. I eventually went a little too far with it and it ended up a whored out daily driven tin can. It went pretty quick a best 1/4 mile of 11.04 @ 121.69 and a best 1/8 mile of 6.86 @ 98.27 with only bolt ons, stock cam, stock heads.
I eventually became known by my plates SUX2BU, so in 2007 when i parted out the SS i transferred my plates over to my then stock 2003 ESV. Even thought they didn't really match the truck I didn't want to lose my plates since i knew i would one day have another Camaro. Eventually I got bored not having a car to tinker with so I began to mod the ESV and it now fits the plates quite well with a front mount Turbonetics T76 ball bearing turbo, blower cam, PT3200 stall, intake, pulley, built trans, ect. Best of 8.976 @ 77.16 before the turbo.

So that brings us to today. I have an IOM SS vert on order and was going to transfer the SUX2BU plates over to it. So i had to figure out what new plates to put on the ESV. I was thinking TRBO ESV, FST ESV but couldn't think of a good one.

Turns out Texas is now using a third party vendor (www.myplates.com) to issue personalized plates and if i transfer plates i will get screwed into paying more and have to prepay 10 years just to get a decent deal. On the upside they have a new "T for Texas" plates that allows you to use current taken 6 digit combination as a new "T" plate. I decided to not waste any time and jumped on my second set of "SUX2BU" plates before anyone beat me to them. I could have never forgiven my self if i knew someone else was rolling around with my plates.

So here is my current plates and my new "T" plates.

I've got the same name on both my plates. I've got Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs plates.

I got an Email saying the state denied my new plates! I called and the lady said it may be because "sucks to be you" sounds negative. I told her I've had the same plates for over 12 years. She said i could Email them to ask for an appeal. I did and also said if i can't have my plates to just refund my $495.

Dear Mr. Galaviz,

Good news. We have reviewed and approved your personalized license plate selection “TSUX2BU”. We appreciate you taking the time to request that we reconsider our previous decision and hope this approval delay has not inconvenienced you.

Our office has requested the manufacture and shipment of your plates to your local county tax office. Your plates should be available for pick up (pickup is a truck, pick up is to gather/collect) at your local county tax office within the next two weeks.

We appreciate your support of the personalized license plate program. If you have any questions concerning this matter, you may contact our office at (512) 374-5010 or at specialtyplates@txdmv.gov

Thank you & have a great day!!!
